It's more like the "No Shame Caucus."

Maybe this will at least be a convenient way to isolate all of the House's worst members.

Gosar's paternal grandparents were Slovenian and his maternal grandparents were Basque immigrants from Banca, on the Franco-Spanish border, I'm only 1% English (and 25% north German, but I'm not counting that one) and I may be more Anglo Saxon than he is, lol

"'Anglo-Saxon political traditions'" is not a racial reference.  It is a reference to the 18th century Whig idea that the major elements of the English & American tradition of liberty, common law, separation of powers, etc., can all be traced back to guys whose names started with "Æthel-" gathering under oak trees.

Yes. Thomas Jefferson was a big proponent of it.  It's still popular in some conservative / right-libertarian circles.

Of course. McCarthy knows which part of the GOP has the base on their side, and it's not the Cheney/Kinzinger wing.

Gosar is Basque and Slovene, about as far from Anglo Saxon as a white guy can get. I wonder if they'll also come out in favor of a Trump family monarchy like the campus carry chick.

Frankly the way I know of her is that she's the girl who had sh*t herself at a party.

You expect me to believe that Reps Greene and Gosar know that?

Finally we have a strong voice in favour of the maintenance of sixth century burial mounds in England.

Several House Republicans, led by Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) and Paul Gosar (Ariz.), are forming a caucus that calls for a "common respect for uniquely Anglo-Saxon political traditions."

A policy platform for the group, which calls itself the America First Caucus, declares that "a certain intellectual boldness is needed" in order to "follow in President Trump’s footsteps, and potentially step on some toes and sacrifice sacred cows for the good of the American nation."

The seven-page document, first obtained by Punchbowl News, is explicit in its nativist rhetoric and describes American culture as dominated by "Anglo-Saxon" and European influences.

I know how fond Republicans are of Dr. Seuss, so I figured I'd share his take on America First.

Myths are socially held knowledge.  Any particular person doesn't need to know all the details of a myth, much less its historical origins, to share belief in it.

This architecture thing is hilarious. Also, it begs the question as to where they think modernism actually originated.

Honestly the use by American racists of 'Anglo Saxon' as a euphemism strikes me as clear an example of 'cultural appropriation' as one could ever dream of having the misfortune to find. Please leave us and our history alone and make up your own damned terms.

I agree on principle and think these guys are POS, but White Americans are Europeans - some are English.  For the best of everyone (newer immigrants, most of all), I believe it’s important we remember that and don’t further the creation of an “American” “ethnicity” that implies European catch-all descent.

Kind of funny how much Republicans constantly sh**t on Europe until they need to use some aspect of it in support of white nationalism.

Quote
...a bicameral caucus consisting of members of the United States Congress who have a strong interest in promoting Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) issues and advocating the concerns of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders...
Quote
To ensure that legislation passed by the United States Congress, to the greatest extent possible, provides for the full participation of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and reflects the concerns and needs of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities;
To educate other Members of Congress about the history, contributions and concerns of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders;
Quote
To establish policies on legislation and issues relating to persons of Asian and/or Pacific Islands ancestry who are citizens or nationals of, residents of, or immigrants to, the United States, its territories and possessions; and To provide a structure to coordinate the efforts, and enhance the ability, of the Asian American and Pacific Islander Members of Congress to accomplish those goals.[1]

What's the difference exactly...?

In France they use it quite often to refer England/America, but it is usually derogatory.
