I know that the Spanish and especially the Belgians are quite brutal to the people living in their colonies. I also know that France is much more involved with their post colonies affairs compared to the British( look at Africa and the France currency they use). However how were the people who ran the colonies and the people who were colonized by them different from each other?

The Deutsche Handelsschutzgebiete respective their nowadays entities are so much ignored by Germanys media!

Togoland = Togo + Umland
Kamerun
Deutsch Ostafrika = Tanganika + Sansibar + Urundi + Ruanda
Deutsch Südwestafrika = Namibien
Bismarckarchipel ~ Papua Neuguinea
Bougainville ~ Deutsch Papua Neuguinea bzw. British Papua Neuguinea
Generalgouvernement (Polen)
Protektorat Böhmen und Mähren
and so on ...

P. S.: The Ernst Thälmann Insel in the Carabeen was once handed over from Fidel Castro in the name of communist Cuba to the German Democratic Republic!
