Raskin would be my preferred candidate here, but it's obviously totally understandable if he passes. Running in a crowded and potentially bruising statewide primary while fighting cancer sounds like an absolute nightmare.

Honestly given his cancer I wouldn't be surprised if he retires from politics in general.

Raskin>Alsobrooks>Sarbanes>Trone, imo.

I wonder if Raskin will run with his cancer though. My money rn is on Alsobrooks.

His cancer is in remission, but I think that not only he doesn’t run for Senate, he also goes ahead and retires from the House.

Also, any bets on the first idiot pundit to suggest that Hogan would make this race anything other than Safe D?

Do random tweets count?

I’ve seen dozens of that guy’s tweets, the best way to summarize him is the bottomless pit Wojak meme

With Trone running, Raskin potentially getting in, Ruppersberger an expected retirement, and Harris' district zooming to the left, there's a possibility for a major facelift in the Maryland delegation this coming cycle.

Watch for Johnny O to go for Ruppersberger's seat and Jawando to drop to the Congressional level if Raskin gets in.

And not to mention our second Gen Z member of Congress in Joe Vogel, I read that he filed Paperwork to run in MD-06

Sounds like a solid candidate. There need to be more black women in positions of power anyway, there's currently none in the senate.

I like forward to it going from zero black women to at least two of them in a couple years

There's no viable coalition for Trone here lmao. Alsobrooks appeals to all sides of the party.

So Alsobrooks is the clear favorite at this point? From what I've read, I certainly hope she wins this.

It seems like Trone is the only other serious candidate right now, but I'd be pretty shocked if he managed to beat Alsobrooks. Raskin might make it interesting, but it doesn't look like he's gonna jump in and Alsobrooks would still be favored even if he did. Likely Alsobrooks at this point.

As much as Raskin would make a great senator, he is currently recovering from cancer at 60 years old so I am extremely doubtful he’ll jump in

I’ve said it before and I’ll probably be saying it more and more times, he is more likely at this point to retire from politics than run for Senate.

Raskin out

Huh, looks like I was wrong about him retiring from the House.

At this point all House retirements might as well be related to running for Senate

This is 100% expected, why WOULDN'T the head honchos of the House Democratic Caucus endorse one of their own??

Now if this was any of the Marylanders endorsing him it would be a big deal
