No issue (or well to be precise, may issue; but under extremely limited circumstances), but this is cause I am not American. American gun rules seem absolutely insane to anyone anywhere else Tongue

Unlike in the US (where gun ownership is a right) here you have to prove that you need a gun for whatever reason and the burden is on you to prove that you need it. And no "for my security" isn't enough most of the time, not even close.

Really there are only 2 accepted uses for guns here (excluding police and other security stuff):

-For hunting: You need to prove you are a hunter
-For recreational shooting: You need to prove you are a recreational shooter

Why should there be any other accepted uses?

There does exist a self-defence permit but it is incredibly rare to get it; the burden of proof is very high (normally it was restricted to people threatened by ETA terrorists). Only 8000 people have it (while there are 1.2 million gun licenses total).

I think a system like this is good enough, where only the people who really need guns have them. But the ship for such a system in the US sailed long aog.
