Looks like that 52% approval poll was outlier? If Baker goes for a 3rd term, MA-GOV is Safe R(INO). Always was with Baker.

If you do things right you usually get re-elected... unless you are Senator Doug Jones in Alabama, who won against a creep in a freakish election and then lost to a blank slate in 2020. Alabama has potential for Democratic wins when poor white people and poor black people recognize that they have something in common.

Governors are elected on statewide issues and win or lose on them. Kentucky, Kansas, and Louisiana reflect that reality. So do Maryland, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Budgeting and state tax policies and the non-Interstate highway network, education, law enforcement, and prisons  are state and not federal issues.
