What a birthday present for me, elections!

Polls close at 8 o'clock in two heavily separatist ridings. Taillon in Longueuil and Pointe-aux-Trembles in Montreal.

The interesting race will be in Pointe-aux-Trembles where PQ leader Andre Boisclair (yes, the cocaine using gay guy) will try and get into the National Assembly. The Liberals and the ADQ are not running against him. Quebec solidaire, which is the new left wing party in Quebec will likely finish 2nd. It will be interesting to see how well they do.

2003 results:

Taillon

PQ 45.7%, PLQ 34.2%, ADQ 16.6%

Poine-aux-Trembles

PQ 50%, PLQ 33.3%, ADQ 14.2%

Random other stuff:

Taillon is 90% Franco, voted 60% Oui in '95 and has been held by the PQ since 1976. It was Rene Levesque's seat for a while.

P-a-T is 93% Franco, voted 63% Oui in '95 and has been held by the PQ since it's creation in 1989.

---
I've not seen any recent polls for Quebec, but I've heard that recent PQ leads haven't been quite as huge as they were a year or so ago.

Those numbers for PAT are irrelevant because the ADQ and PLQ are not running. Well, perhaps we can make guesses from that as to what QS will get.

Well, they were supposed to have closed half an hour ago. Usually, these things take half and hour to start reporting. There's no sign on the elections website of any results though Sad I'm surprised, because I've been very pleased with the imformation I can find on it.

Tailon cannot be released until 9:00

Interesting. QS has to be disappointed, they are behind the Green Party!

It's obvious the federalist vote is going to the Green Party. Interestingly, Boisclair is getting some federalist vote as well as his 71% is more than the 63% that voted to separate.  Obviously turnout is horrible as well.

Presuming the current numbers don't greatly change, the more interesting result is Taillon; the PQ vote seems to be about where it was in 2003, but the Liberals and ADQ are crumbling somewhat.

Odd that QS is polling about the same in both seats.

Veronique Mercier, the PLQ canddidate is very attractive: http://www.veroniquemercier.com/en/video_clips/index.html (though she was hotter on TV)

Correct. Speaking of them, IIRC those are bad numbers for them.
