Manchin said today he hasn't talked with Sinema about this.

No real reason for this. They've never really been "together" on anything, especially considering a lot of times both their issues with certain bills were separate from each other. And more often than not, Sinema was the one to use Manchin as a shield. Now that she's alone, I doubt Sinema would tank this by herself.

Hoyer says he is confident that if the Senate passes it, the House will pass it. Regarding SALT, he hopes the members will look at the donut and not the hole.

Not a perfect outcome, no doubt, though that would still be a pretty strong accomplishment. If this passes, Schumer probably deserves more credit than he often gets. Holding a 50 member caucus together with Manchin and Sinema is no easy thing to do. Just hope we don't enter another Manchin cycle or Sinema ends up sinking it again.

Mike Bloomberg thinks the climate stuff is still a huge step:

I still can’t get over ‘the guy who was obviously acting in bad faith is agreeing to do a marginal fraction of what was discussed after a year and half of sh**tting on the party’ is being celebrated as a victory for the centrist morons who insisted we just trust Joe Manchin.

Also that Joe Manchin wants to do green energy and worked his ass off to kill child tax credits should put lie to the ‘he’s from West Virginia’ bullsh**t.
It;s not about West Virginians, it’s about Manchin’s personal predilections.

Plus it looks like Schumer did all the work for this while Biden just watched it unfold.

I guess Biden was involved behind the scenes, little doubt about that. Biden and Schumer work closely together from all I'm observing. Schumer seems to have taken the lead to talk to Manchin though.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/manchin-said-cut-last-minute-193509627.html

Manchin says he cut a last minute deal on BBB because D's might lose big in midterm, but why didn't he think about this in Jan when Biden lobbied him along with Voting Rights to pass before inflation got out of control

So is this the 2022 reconciliation bill or the 2023 one? Are we truly reviving BBB or did we blow that and are using the second shot on this?

I think Manchin is a total POS and I could go on forever about that, but this deal is still so much better than nothing.

Worth noting for context before cons start clutching pearls over this, half of the tax increase falls on the lowest 98% of the population.

The thread goes further: 87% will fall on those making over 100k, each means the bottom 75% will be paying 7% of this bill.

Which means people making less than 100k will still be paying more in taxes

1) Why does this need its own thread? Put it in the megathread.
2) My taxes went up under the Trump cut, at least this this time the wealthy get hit harder.

1. This should not be hidden

2. If this is because of SALT, blame your state for having high taxes then

Yes, and I'm putting into context what that means, as it's easy to misinterpret the tweet. It very much should be public knowledge, but the amount that taxes well increase should also not be overplayed.

Yes and to reduce it we need to increase aggregate supply

Sinema is so much worse than Manchin because she doesn't even have the excuse of representing a hyper-conservative state. This is just who she is.
