Today, Biden visited the location of the former Fern Hollow Bridge in Pittsburgh, which collapsed this morning. Biden was already scheduled to speak in the city about infrastructure. I think the story could end up being a real winner for Democrats, as the Infrastructure and Jobs Act was already signed last November. That's something they can run on, fixing our infrastructure so we don't have another bridge collapse.

For reference, the last vehicular bridge collapse was in 2015, when part of Interstate 10 (built in the 50s or 60s) in California collapsed during floods. In 2013, part of Interstate 5 (built in 1955) in Washington collapsed when an oversize vehicle (15'9" in height) struck the frame of a bridge, which was 14'7" in height. And of course in 2007, part of Interstate 35W (originally built in 1967) collapsed in Minneapolis during rush hour, killing 13 people and injuring 145.

I assume this wasn't counting bridges that collapse with no one on them. That happens sometimes on California's route 1.

Q: when’s the deadline for this fiscal year’s reconciliation bill?
Sept 30

That said, I very much doubt we will get a reconciliation bill this year. (RIP the public option). If we get Manchin to vote for 1.5 trillion 2022 bill this Summer after a whole year of butting heads, what are the odds he'll pass a 2023 bill if any signifacance by November? He'll be screaming about the midterms. Besides, congress is out campaigning by August and won't be back until the next session starts in Janauary.

Democrats passed a 2009FY bill in March 2010 to pass Obamacare but did not use the 2010FY bill despite being able to. Something about it hurting them in the midterms. Hoyer said it was dead Summer 2010.

Everyone thinks the Rs are gonna take the H well we are favs in the Senate but not the H and Rick Scott just objected to the EITC credit for extension of a year so there won't be any Student loan discharge for us in 2023

The problem is that we're in a 7=0 inflation rate and we have a 30T dollar debt problem and no more tax credits or stimulus checks that's why Biden polls are 44% the same as Obama was in 2014/ but 2014 Senate map was bad and Obamacare was deeply unpopular

Biden didn't get rid of COVID he promised and Ukraine and Russia is bad and there is a slow prosecution if at all of Trump

Biden if we lose in Nov was deftthe wrong Primary candidate, Biden supporters would argue Bloomberg took votes away from Biden he helped Biden get reelected by taking progressive Jews and voters from Bernie that's why Bernie  underperform in TX, NC, CA and Cali, Bernie should of been Prez not Biden but D Day in Nov we will find out soon enough

We'd be in the same place we are now.  Sinemanchin were both fundamentally bad-faith actors whose goal was clearly to pass nothing. Manchin would have found some other excuse if Biden took the counteroffer.

Thats why Ds wanted to pass Voting Rights at least they would of had a Legislative accomplishment and Biden polls wouldn't have been 44% now with this new jobs report the 22 H looks bleak but the D's must turnout for Senate even if the House is gone, it's gonna be an early night in the H, Polls are gonna show at 7p that House goes R

Sinema really did a disservice when she blocked Voting Rights, if D's have the Senate majority they should pull her chair away from her if we have 53 seats take her off all committees she's done in 24 to Gallego anyways

They won't do that now due to fact they need her for Breyer replacement, but clearly if we net WI, PA, LA it will be 53/47 don't need her vote

Call it the "Repair Deal" because its basically just repairing stuff that should have been dealt with years ago.

What happened to all those Shovel ready jobs when BINF there weren't none it's the same jobs cook, cashier, dishwasher and Manuel Labor Amazon jobs that are there before Pandemic no new Green Jobs that are technology, that brand new people that's out of the work for e want, teens even stopped looking for part time jobs but if they do work they are taking jobs that adults don't want

It's 4 percent unemployment but it's only 150 K jobs a month we're supposed to be well past that now 300/500 K jobs but just like Obama stimulus in 2010 there were no new Green jobs same jobs came back and we had a Supermajority H and Senate too

the politics of mentioning tesla or not is quite interesting. either its pro union in key midwest states while also helping legacy auto stocks or admit that an american company is actually better without unions in states they care less about. seems like a lose lose for the dems either way

Uh, No. They don't get a five month uninterrupted break. They're scheduled to be in 3 weeks of September, 2 weeks in November, and at least 2 weeks (often becomes more) in December. If Manchin repents of his sins, they can easily use that time accordingly.

I need the following from Manchin before I trust he's a yes on anything:

1) A public apology for lying to the President and taking an interview with Fox News.
2) A formally introduced draft bill outlining what he wants.

If this can't happen, then it's time to hold a doomed to fail vote on BBB to highlight his lack of compatability with literally every other Democrat in the Senate, strip him of his Chairmanship, and then move on. I'm tired of his antics and bread crumbs. Unless Manchin is going to be apologetic and serious about this, I'm not interested.

Well I need him to vote for the SCOTUS appointee so maybe we can wait till after the mid terms to start antagonizing him further.

Most of Biden's list will get GOP votes, unless he's going for Eunice Lee, Holly Thomas, or one of the NAACP Lawyers, Manchin can do whatever he wants.

Nope. If republicans know that Manchin won’t vote for a scotus nominee, that nominee won’t get a single GOP vote. You can quote me on that. “Moderate” GOP’ers will only vote for a dem scotus nominee if they know that said nominee already has all 50 dems behind them.
