Not sure if people are just dilly-dallying or what is going on, but they will obviously keep it open for as long as more people voting can change the result. If they closed it right now the point of order would be upheld 209-181.

Do we know who the "no votes" are? Based on the 209 number matching the Republican adjourn motion earlier I assume it's all Democrats. From the sheer size of the number (36 less than the 217 earlier) since I don't think there are that many moderates, I'm guessing it's progressives, which would shows they're at least temporarily joining the Republican delay strategy here.

(Or am I misunderstanding and the 209 is the D side of the ledger.)

Looks like Pelosi is finally trying the strategy of "just hold the vote, and dare people to actually vote No".

I believe the last time leadership on either side went with a strategy like this was during the vote on the original house version of the 2018 farm bill. It took a couple tries, but the vote was (barely) successful.

A yes vote is a vote to continue debate, A no vote is a vote to stop debate.

It is back to a party line vote for right now, Nos are ahead 209-188.

Now, the infrastructure passed after Terry loses it's Late and the Parliamentary can still strip out Immigration, the Senate will do everything to slow Spending Bill down, because the Debt Ceiling hasn't passed, it won't be voted out by Thanksgiving if Debt Ceiling isn't attached, Portman, McConnell and Cruz already said that

The House is doing exàctky what Blue dogs want pass the infrastructure bill and slow the Spending bill, just because Spending bill passed H it's gonna meet a bad fate in Senate

But, since infrastructure already passed the Senate, it goes straight to Prez Biden, not the Spending bill

Whatever happens tonight I have zero respect for socialists like Jayapal. Do they not realize that Dems lost VA because BIF had not passed (in late October it was too late to pass BBB before voters went to polls, but BIF which just needs that final house vote could have passed quite quickly) ? It is their fault. They should be apologizing and begging for mercy. They should not be making demands of any sort.

The way y'all just made up the sole reason McAuliffe lost and are now just convincing yourself it's unquestionable reality. Maybe McAuliffe sucked and if the CPC caved and voted for BIF the Senate would have let BBB die and depress Dem turnout.

It seems Chuy Garcia and Kai Kahele will not be voting for BIF (according to their twitters).

Given that even the most expedited floor schedule possible could not have resulted in BBB passing the Senate before Nov. 2 with a late october house passage, there would not yet be any perception of "Death" and therefore no depression. The passage of the BIF would have risen Biden's approval ratings in the days before the election and given McAuliffe a real final message to run on. It would have vaulted McAuliffe to a narrow victory. But Jayapal ruined it all.

Yes, Jayapal ruined it all, not Manchin or Sinema who were the only reason BIF didn't get voted on. Get a grip. Moderates are not good politicians as much as you wanna whine about the sOcIaLiStS

Dems should pass BIF, and then have Biden threaten to veto it if BBB isn't passed as well.

It seems Chuy Garcia and Kai Kahele will not be voting for BIF (according to their twitters).

Kahele. Another practical joke. Guy joins in on the overriding of Chairman Adam Smith to bloat the defense budget with $25 Billion dollars of republican-authored additions in direct contradiction of Biden's wishes, and now he's blocking another key Biden priority. It's just an expression of pure disloyalty and someone needs to quite literally pummel him into submission.

Manchin and Sinema only had "control" over the BIF vote because Jayapal allowed them to have control. The CPC could have pledged their support for BIF at any time and it would have passed the House and got sent to Biden by late September regardless of how Manchin or Sinema felt about the other bill.

Wow, creepy much? Also that veers very close to a rule violation.

Manchin and Sinema held up BBB and thus held up BIF. It's the moderate's fault the moderates aren't getting their way.

Why are all the Dem factions negotiating in public?  It seems that they should hash this out behind closed doors.  Neither side looks good by showing everyone how the sausage is made.

Pelosi should proceed and make them do it. See how they like it when it hurts their re-elections next year and they come crying for extra campaign money (some - looking at you, Porter - aren't exactly in Safe D districts)

The trio publicly assuring that spending bill will pass by Thanksgiving. Pelosi says tonight's rule vote is "pathway" to that

Pelosi adds she thinks "large number" of progressive members support plan

Allright, now someone explain this:

Sarah Ferris:

Dems are telling me that 10-20 progressives are likely "no" on this...but no one actually knows because there was no whip count!

And a lot of progressives seem confused about exactly what's going on. Still, some CPCers being intentionally quiet.

Huh Very few progressives would be in danger if they voted down BIF now.

Yeah I said this many days and pages ago: the negotiations of this bill are taking place on Twitter, and it's playing out with predictable results.

Yeah, it's the reverse of what should happen (similar to the death of Republican liberals/moderates). Progressives can be assholes, defeat the Biden agenda if they don't get what they want, and would be rewarded in such an instance with a smaller Democratic caucus but one they would have a higher percentage of membership as all the more swing district-y members lose.
