Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Republic of Atlasia in Congress assembled,

Section I. Title

i. This bill may be known as the No Taxing Drivers Act.

Section II. Definitions
i. "Vehicle mile tax" shall be defined as any tax or fee which charges motorists based on the amount of miles they have traveled.

Section III. Substance
i. No vehicle mile tax may be implemented at the federal level in Atlasia.
ii. No driver in Atlasia may be required to install a GPS or location tracker on their vehicle.

If the government was ever interested in passing a vehicle mile tax they would just repeal this act.

So? If that ends up happening then so be it. This law just states the position of the current congress now.

As the president alluded to, the only consequences of this could very well be unintended ones.

This bill is designed to limit taxes which disproportionately affect suburban and rural residents. Living in a city center, it might not be necessary to drive everywhere. But in suburban and especially rural communities, cars are peoples' livelihoods. It's impossible to go to the store or sometimes even to see your closest neighbor without driving. As a consequence, people living in these areas would pay many times the amount as people living in urban areas. There shouldn't be unfair advantages based on which part of the country you live in.
