Emergency Address of the Governor

Good and decent people of Lincoln. I come to you from a secure location in the Green Mountains of Vermont, protected by many layers of steel, concrete, and lead, fortified by dozens of machine gun and sniper nests, and behind a door of the mightiest metal. Rest assured despite the talk of violence and fighting between secessionists and anti secessionists, your Governor, elected with a strong mandate, remains safe.

The recent national happiness in the nation of Lincoln has greatly disturbed me. Indeed Lincoln is a nation, it is culturally distinct and unique, and nobody can doubt we are tied together inseparably as Lincolnites more than any other national identity.  We respect and honor our brothers in the Atlasian family, but nobody can doubt our unique nationality. My heart bleeds for all Lincolnites, and yearns for peace and prosperity. It is my job to be a benevolent and just Governor for us all. You have given me a great trust and I must carry it out.

It is for that purpose I have asked the State Guard to bring the General Court and the regional courts into protective custody. We must have peace, we must have stability. There are reports of violence among Lincolnites, there are reports that our brothers and sisters are fighting each other. There can be no doubt that we must have strong leadership, and I am prepared to be that leader.

I have ordered our officers, both civil and military to secure key points throughout Lincoln, key infrastructure and civil centers for the peace and security of the land. This includes our civil bodies and courts. Law enforcement will be on high alert, and we are in communication with local authorities. Speaker Crane is being transported to my base to preserve order.

Make no mistake. We will have peace. We will have order. We will have Philism. The people of Lincoln are marching on in their national mission, they are fighting for socialism and bread, and I am prepared to lead.

I hereby assume powers as Commander-in-Chief of the Lincoln National Guard and order the Guard to secure key infrastructure and civic points to secure order and peace. I order the guard to secure the General Court and the Courts for their own safety. I order the Guard to assist the people in all their businesses, and enforce the law fairly, equitably, and with vigor. The security and happiness of the nation is paramount.

The national assembly of the Lincolnite nation, the General Court, will have business temporarily adjusted and paused while in custody. The high court of Lincoln, in protective custody, will have business temporarily adjusted and paused. The protection of our civil officers is paramount, and there must be a period of civil order to alleviate the current distress. It is for that purpose, business will be adjusted to meet the national climate.

Today I left my headquarters in Burlington with the protection of the Green Mountain Boys. I visited Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit and New York City in brief trips to meet with local officials to discuss the emergency situation, and how our temporary adjustment and pause of legislative and judicial organs will secure the peace. I then travelled to Burlington, where I met with loyalist committees, and honorable decent folk who profess that Lincoln is an independent nation and community. As a gesture of good will to these good and fervent folk, the Lincolnite flag was flown higher than the Atlasian one, and given justified precedence. I convened the first Supreme Emergency Council of Lincoln, an organ dedicated to preserving peace and establishing justice. The Council acclaimed myself as Chairman of the Council (Speaker Crane will be Deputy Chair), and as the Protector of Lincoln. This Council derives its authority from the people of Lincoln, whose will we will seek to bring about. The General Court and the judicial system, which have been adjusted and paused for the duration of the security situation, will legitimize these actions once we can guarantee loyalty to the nation, and the support of those bodies among the people.

Due to the hard and diligent work of the Lincolnite security forces, there will be a general drawdown of the security situation. The internal threats to the safety of the people have, in large part, been eliminated. In time, there will be a full return to civilian government after negotiations conclude on the status of Lincoln.

Under the authority vested in me by the General Court, I hereby schedule concurrent snap elections and independence referendum for the second weekend of October, the 9th and the 10th. To vote in the snap election and concurrent referendum one must register before the issuance of this proclamation.


Addendum to proclamation, the concurrent votes will be held this coming weekend, the 2nd and the 3rd of October. Anyone may choose to register until the ballot is released.

Message to Lincolnites

Friends, countrymen, Lincolnites. I would not come to you today with urgency if I did not believe so much was at risk. Today we have are threatened with the dire crisis of war. I come to you as your Governor with a clarion call to action. Wulfric today has threatened war against Lincoln, he has brought forth a perfidious, ruthless, and shockingly devoid of compassion item of legislation. It is his aptly named "Reinstate Offshore Drilling Act." This is nothing short of a declaration of war on Lincoln, and on our environment. Wulfric's War on the Environment would restore garish eyesores to our shores, garish eyesores that run the risk of environment catastrophe. Wulfric's War on the Environment would gut the fossil fuel phaseout on our electricity. Wulfric looks at the nigh-unanimous scientific consensus on man made climate change and cares not! I can't possibly say why, but I know that the people disagree. Wulfric and his three man legislature have no mandate to declare war against our green and pleasant land. He has no mandate to let loose poison on our waters. I will work with legislators to strange this disaster fast, but I am calling on you THE PEOPLE to act. Go to the legislature and tell them what you think! It is your house! Go to Wulfric and tell him that his destructive garbage must not stand!

Wulfric seems the scientific consensus, and cares not! He spits at the people! I couldn't tell you why, but I know that you have the power to stop this unhinged piece of legislation. It has been "moderated" he says. Hogwash I say. He is still restoring ticking time bombs to our shores for inane reasons not based in reality. I am calling on you the people to stand him to this criminal piece of legislation which threatens us all. Wulfric's War on the Environment must be stopped, and now is the time!

And never mind that Atlasia is already energy independent right now as we speak! Wulfric's idea of a Lincoln dependent on foreign energy is a fictitious delusion! But what is not fictitious is the damage his bill will wrought on our country. I am calling on legislators to oppose this dangerous dangerous bill, and I am calling on the people to mass in their might and oppose this publicly. Bombard this Wulfricist disaster, or we will all pay in time.

I immediately demand Wulfric withdraw his dangerous bile from the floor.
