LBJ had higher highs but lower lows.

Clinton was more consistently solid.

LBJ's Great Society was a continuation of the New Deal, while Clinton was a centrist DLC Democrat. I don't see how any Democrat can pick Clinton.

Vietnam was a tragedy and a stain on on LBJ's legacy, but he was a 10/10 President on Civil Rights and domestic issues.

All the Way with LBJ.

The one who didn’t turn Democrats into corporatists

Technically, Carter started that...even if it was supposed to just be a temp fix rather than what it became.

In domestic politics, LBJ, no doubt.

In foreign policy, obviously Clinton, since LBJ had the worst foreign policy of all Dem POTUS.

Clinton was an economic moderate who presided over a great economy and didn't get us mixed up in 'Nam.

The President who ended segregation >>> The President who did not have sexual relations with that woman

LBJ also cheated on his wife in the WH. He also lowballed causality estimates and lied to the public about our progress in Vietnam which is worse than lying about an affair. Outside of his stand on Civil Rights LBJ was just a bastard.

Clinton got as far as he did by capitulating to the Reagan consensus on deregulation and "tough on crime" antics, and failed to do anything to adequately fight the cancerous growth of the culture war era carried out by his rivals. Outside of healthcare, he generally stood to the right of the pre-Reagan generation of Republicans. Of course, his foreign policy was also at times a bit trigger-happy.

LBJ sadly capitulated to the imperialist Democratic consensus that had persisted since Truman, which created his fall from grace, but was often superior to Truman on domestic issues if only because he was shrewd enough to push his ambitious agenda through Congress and had the Warren Court on his side. Almost sixty years on, much of the current Supreme Court is still trying to dismantle the Great Society and its legacy, which should be as strong a testament as any to its virtues.

Clinton also never produced a soundbite as enduring as LBJ's Haggar call (the one with the big burp).

LBJ easily, though that's mostly due to him having a much better domestic policy.

I just named the 2 things that those 2 Presidents are best known for. Bill Clinton is known for being the 2nd President to be impeached after he cheated on his wife, and LBJ is known for ending segregation giving southern black people the right to vote.

Pretty much this, though I personally can't ignore how much progress LBJ influenced with his Great Society programs and the VRA/CRA. LBJ slightly.

Johnson was a Reformer, Clinton all he did was keep the status quo. Johnson was able to appoint Thurgood Marshall
