Apparently absentee ballots were quite strong for Lamont.

I didn't say I blindly support the candidate with the strongest stands, of course that would have supported Bush both times. I meant that the American people tend to support someone with convictions more than someone like Lieberman who blows with the wind. Not to mention that Lieberman seems to be heading the wrong direction more than the right direction. It's not just the war, it's pro-torture Gonzales, CAFTA, cloture on Alito, and so on, and most of all his right-wing rhetoric.

Damn...if only Lamont had been a multi-issue candidate and not been an idiot the whole time, I'd probably be supporting him now and be happy. (Remember, I'm a liberal)...instead Lamont acted like a jackass the whole time and lost my support...this is a dark day for America.

If you're a liberal and a Lamont supporter, whatever, I understand that for the reasons you mentioned, but how does Lieberman "blow in the wind"?

Yep, Hartford just came in.  51%-48% Lamont.

The death knell.

Joe Lieberman has conceded and called Lamont: "I am disappointed but not discouraged that we lost".

Don't you always complain about Gore should have won after the recount.  I don't really see how Lieberman's being a sore loser here, but to November we go!

Lieberman may have lost the primary, but he will still be Connecticut's Senator.

Lieberman didn't give a sh**t that the election was stolen from him in 2000 when he was running against Bush. Now he suddenly cares that he lost now that a Democrat beat him? Lieberman isn't a DINO, he's a Republican.

That's just the kind of crap, I'd expect from you. 2000 was not in the least bit funny for Democrats and, more importantly, the majority of Americans who happened not to vote for George W Bush

A sad sad day how Joe Lieberman is running on this joke Connecticut For Lieberman party. The Republicans will be supporting him in the general election. If the man had the slightest shread of decency, he'd support the Democratic primary winner that he outspent 2-1, and had even more lopsided support amoung his fellow Senators and the out of tough beltway elite.

Lieberman is pure trash. The Republicans might as well withdraw their candidate, there's already a Republican on the ballot.

Should we create a new thread for results analysis (the fun stuff) and leave this one for post-mortum bickering? Tongue

He beat the more liberal Lowell Weicker with the support of the Republican party in 1988.
