Liguria is known for foods such as pesto sauce, farinata and focaccia, its coastline in general, stunning locations like the Cinque Terre and Portofino in particular, Genoa's big medieval centre, Genoa's (and not only) awful urban sprawl, Sanremo's casino, Sanremo's music festival, being incredibly old (median age: 48), being very rainy, the Genoese musical scene, and probably something else I am forgetting.

Seafood allegedly from the Chesapeake, except the darling yoni of the Chesapeake has been so thoroughly raped by overfishing, agricultural and industrial runoff, and shipping that it can hardly support any life of note and now everything comes from the Tidewater or the Gulf.

Lacrosse-playing preps (it's my college's only NCAA Division 1 sport).

Hordes of bougie suburban government and healthcare workers.

Old-money boating preps in Anne Arundel County with their craft lined up and down Spa Creek in Annapolis.

The unmatched Lord of the Flies-esque brutality of the Naval Academy.

The Wire.

Pennsylvania - America stuff. Founding fathers stuff.
Lancaster County specifically - Lancaster was the capital of the United States for one day in 1777, which is pretty cool.

My. Rushmore seems to be the only thing many know about South Dakota, unfortunately.  There’s a lot more in the BlacK Hills region alone.

Also, some might sort of know the capital of my state, but pronounce it wrong.  It’s really pronounced like “peer,” instead of like some common French name.

Calvinism; banks; money laundering; eye wateringly expensive watches; international organisations and NGOs; the Geneva conventions; Jean-Jacques Rousseau; a big fountain and a lake; CERN; the consistorial court of discipline; and having lots, and lots, and lots of money

Nope; I don't think I've ever said that. For a long time I did have my "pin" set somewhere in rural Castille-La Mancha though, so perhaps you might be thinking of that
