How do they even select jurors for a case like this? Probably 99%+ of potential jurors are biased.

As long as they say they can set aside whatever preconceived notions they have about his guilt or innocence and judge based solely on the evidence presented at trial, they're allowed to be jurors. If a juror says they cannot judge impartially, they'll be dismissed. They'll just keep going until they find enough jurors that can say that after peremptory challenges.

And the cashier said he wasn't sure Floyd knew it was counterfeit, which is why he accepted the bill initially. So Floyd may not have done anything wrong besides freak out about being confronted by the police. (I don't consider the drug use wrong, though unwise.)

He said there were other contributing factors to death such as Floyd's heart disease. But he said the knee to the neck, given Floyd's health issues, was too much for his body to handle. All the prosecution has to prove in this respect is that Chauvin's actions were a substantial cause in the death, not the only cause or even the predominant cause. So I think it did help.

The estimate was 4 weeks and we're on pace for that so it could be about 2 more weeks if the defense doesn't fold up shop early.

Wouldn't surprise me if anyone in the jury that votes not guilty for any of the charges gets doxxed online, especially with the Daunte Wright riots happening now.

In these types of cases the identity of the jurors are usually kept sealed for a while to protect them from that kind of stuff.

I think guilty of manslaughter and not guilty of the murder charges is the most likely outcome, but I'm not sure it's more than 50% likely.

He's honestly safer in prison where he can be isolated than he is on the streets. No, I'm not advocating that anyone do harm to him, but this case has sparked a lot of anger and Chauvin could easily because the victim of vigilante justice if he is acquitted.

Everyone thought that was going to happen to Casey Anthony but it never did. It could happen, but probably not, especially if he moves.

When the OJ verdict came back after a day, everyone assumed it must be a guilty verdict if it was reached so quickly. There's really no way to know what the verdict is.

If there was a deadlocked jury we would have found that out and the judge would tell them deliberate for longer. If they had already reached verdicts on some counts but not all of them, we would probably know that too. But nothing would be announced until verdicts were reached on all of them or the judge was ready to declare a mistrial on some of them. Since they've announced they've reached a verdict, it means they have verdicts of guilty or not guilty for all counts.

Yeah in hindsight I think his best strategy may have been to plead guilty to manslaughter, then take the stand and admit he knows he was reckless and did something wrong but he wasn't trying to kill Floyd.

I just reset the poll to go along with the sentencing of Chauvin, which will take place June 16th.

Hmm, I don't see a way to vote in it.
