Useful anonymized rundown of jurors and their backgrounds:

Atlas brain, but reading their profiles I only detected 2-3 jurors who have any chance of being Republican voters.

There’s no good way for this to end, either way half the country is gonna be furious

Half the country is going to be furious if Chauvin is convicted?

I'm encouraged, I think he will be found guilty.

I hope he is, but I’m afraid of the embolden racist fighting against that as they have historically

Murderers being found guilty is good actually, especially when they are in positions of power. Terrible take.

Half was probably an overstatement, but I know plenty people who fully support chauvin and honestly think police should just have Carte Blanche.

Chauvin being convicted is the right way for it to end, but I don’t know if that’ll be a good ending

My best bet is most of the jury went back ready to convict for murder, there were a couple stragglers who said there was reasonable doubt of some sort or another, and they landed on manslaughter as a compromise.

I'd say most Republicans support giving Chauvin prison time to some degree

They wouldn't compromise this fast.

Even all the Trumbots I know think he's guilty.

Yeah, even Trump denounced him. And a bunch of cops. The blatant brutality in this case obvious to everyone with eyes to see made it a bit less controversial than some of the others I think.

I could see that if it wasn't a 3rd degree murder state but with that as an option I don't see how they can go manslaughter.

For such a quick decision, my guess is that he is guilty on all counts.
He is toast.
But we await the decision ...

But this is not a left-right issue. What Chauvin did is not conservatism. I have no idea why "some" elements of the right-wing attach themselves to people like Chauvin and other police officers whenever the subject becomes about killing black people.

The police threw him under the bus fairly thoroughly in the trial. It reminds me a bit of Amber Guyger's trial, only with more obvious malice. That probably tilted the few skeptics over.

Anyone trying to predict a jury's decision based on timing is a fool. Juries are forces of chaos. No juries are ever the same and it is impossible to generalize what verdict you're going to get from a quick or long deliberation.

Honestly I feel like a "compromise position", if it was what actually happened, would be just as (if not more) likely to fall on the guilty 3rd/ng 2nd line than the guilty manslaughter/ng 3rd line at this point.

Guyger wasn't really being tried in the line of duty though. She did that action off duty.

I think he gets manslaughter but not 2nd degree. Idk about 3rd degree murder though.

Also for those curious, it took 11 hours of deliberation, 4 of which were yesterday, to reach a verdict.

I think the verdict will probably be guilty of third-degree murder. Second-degree would require a finding of intent to inflict pain or harm, which will always be difficult to prove in such a case unless the officer had been subjecting the victim to a stream of "I'm gonna get you good, sucker!"-type taunts.

Almost certainly not a total acquittal with so little deliberation, but possibly just manslaughter.

Not everything is left-right, there are some people who simply don’t see Floyd’s life as expendable, and I said the “half” was an oversimplification

Police killings are not indiscriminate. Their priorities indicate that those not killed have a certain status in the social hierarchy, and that the police are interested in protecting that status.

It's an ugly sort of fear, and not conservatism.  Many vote for conservative parties, however, to maintain status. The thinking going on here (to the extent that there is much going on at all) is just a much more demented version of that impulse.

I think hung jury is the most likely outcome, but he is so unbelievably guilty.

He's almost certainly convicted but no one quite knows yet what it will be for. They said it's a decision all the jurors agree on so there's probably no chance of a mistrial. Max of 40 years in prison. Chauvin also won't have an easy time in prison, especially if he's placed in general population.
