Looks like he will not be released until late 2043/early 2044 when he is 67/68 years of age.

Disappointing. Not the lightest sentence possible but 30 years would have been more appropriate

Chauvin is also facing federal charges, so it could be even later than that. But this seems to be the most logical release date. The Floyd family didn't get the maximum sentence that they had hoped for, but considering how few police officers are held to account for these kinds of crimes, this is a tough sentence.

The judge handled things perfectly by the book the whole trial. There were no grounds for leniency, and I'm not sure there were any grounds for going over the standard sentence either. Very little in the way of grounds for appeal here.

Racial profiling is a problem definitely, black males serve as Security Officers as a line of work and do citizen law enforcement, we work with police altogether and most black males on buses or trains don't get stopped, most of the ones are riding in cars except for George Floyd

"On duty" is the clear distinction here. Most sentences for police corruption involve technically off-duty behavior.

But the real corruption happens on duty and because they have a uniform. When you think of the police who have run violent drug rings, framed people with weapons and drugs charges, beat and sexually assaulted people and killed unarmed civilians. It shows how police misconduct is treated with a shrug.

Also I do not believe the Chauvin fact is true. Justin Volpe is serving a 30-year sentence after pleading guilty to sodomizing Abner Louima with a stick in the bathroom of the 70th precinct station house in 1997.

It actually can be, both federally (be it at the civilian or military levels as well as in DC) as well as in the states of AL, CA, DE, FL, GA, HI, ID, KY, MA, MI, MO, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NY, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VT, WA, & WY. Indeed, life without the possibility of parole is actually the mandatory-minimum sentence for 2nd-degree murder in LA & SD.
