It is possible to both realize the benefits of the outcome while also pointing out the hypocrisy on the other side.

Good grief. Retire pls

Weird statement but she’s not wrong

Sacrifice implies a voluntary statement of martyrdom.

She probably couldn’t think of the right word. The main point is that his death will bring justice to many people

What does that even mean? Chauvin is facing a degree of justice by getting a jail sentence. This does nothing for anyone else. Floyd was a real guy who died, this isn't entertainment.

His death his brought attention to these matters all over the world. I don’t know why you are so cynical right after this huge milestone

It's a fairly high-profile instance of a police officer being held accountable to the law. It will, I hope, put the fear of that into the many would-be Chauvins elsewhere.

Why did so many people seem to think he'd actually get off? This jury was taken from one of the bluest places in the country; this isn't like past trials like this, they had video evidence. Unsurprising.

MN juries require unanimous conviction. My expectation was that the video evidence and coverage would cause partisanship and thereby prevent unanimity regardless of other political predispositions.

I personally believe the manslaughter charge was more appropriate, but I respect the Jury's decision.

Let's hope there is no violence that flares tonight.

They also require unanimous for acquittal.

That nancy pelosi clip is atrocious.

I don't doubt her good intentions, but she should come out and apologize.

Oh my god.

I didn't even expect a guilty verdict.

Maybe there truly is hope out there.

This was the right decision, but hopefully our cities won't turn into flames tonight(though I worry it will still happen).

Highly doubt it, people looked really happy outside the courthouse. There won’t be protests, and therefore no cover/excuse for people to loot/riot. Most who did that weren’t actual protesters who gave a s—t about justice anyway, just opportunists. Without the actual protesters out there in droves, they won’t be able to get away with it.
Things are looking good now. I'm not as worried a half hour ago, but I'll still look out for anything tonight.

I like how Marty is spamming posts from prominent Democrats but refuses to post the countless insensitive and borderline racist statements from his side of the aisle about the case and others.

George Floyd's death was certainly not in vain and has reawakened a sense of justice in the black community whether you understand it or not.

This really is strange. Democrats should probably just stop tweeting if this is the best they can come up with. Pelosi speaking off the cuff and it coming out clumsy I can understand, but someone deliberated over these words before publishing them to the world. Again I kind sort of see what Frey is trying to get at, but the implication that Floyd’s death was in any way positive is yikes even if not really intended that way. And Axelrod’s statement is just awkward and cringe. Almost like a dad joke gone wrong.

The current activist left makes everything all about them. It's not about the man who died, it's about them getting all the feels.

3rd degree murder isn't gonna hold up, the Defense is gonna do everything in their power to make only the Manslaughter charge stick so he can get on 5/10 yrs in Prison, that's the best thing the Defense can hope for

They're not gonna get off scott free

If even the largest police union is calling the trial fair , I don’t know what grounds they would have for appeal

On what legal grounds would the murder convictions be reversed but not manslaughter?

A "kindly" black person who steps forward to help a white person or "enlighten" society. It is an odious and degrading stereotype, one of many that blacks have faced in popular culture over the centuries.
