This means every other officer will be guilty on all counts as well.

Excellent. Hopefully this is a turning point in how we treat police violence and overreach.

Agreed. Guilty on all three counts! George Floyd got the justice which was denied to Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Rodney King, and so many others.

In this case there were a plenty of videos from different angles with audio.

Why did so many people seem to think he'd actually get off? This jury was taken from one of the bluest places in the country; this isn't like past trials like this, they had video evidence. Unsurprising.

The same could be said about Rodney King and look what happened there.

The comparison to Travyon Martin a few pages ago was ridiculous. No one can claim they know what actually happened there. Here he's on video suffocating a guy.

There's probably a generational divide here too. Atlas Olds are more likely to remember miscarriages of justice like OJ and Rodney King.

I've said that. That doesn't change the thrust or meaning of what I said here.

Does he serve for both 2nd and 3rd murder? Or would the judge give him a concurrent punishment?

I mean, that describes the Rodney King case as well, but that was almost 30 years ago now.

King just got beat up, not really the same thing. Virtually no one is going to watch video of a guy dying and then acquit the guy who did it

He goes directly to jail now, right?
Even before the sentencing court event/date?

Motion was passed in the courtroom to revoke bail, so it seems so. At least according to the footage I saw on BBC News. Chauvin was led away, cuffed.

Yep. Judge revoked his bond and remanded him into custody.

Good.
Thanks for the clarification & I love the image.

Apparently it will be concurrent as he has no prior convictions.

NYT data on likely jailtime:

Minnesota also has a law that felonies that are committed in view of a minor are grounds to add years to the sentence. A 9-year old girl viewed this, so that can be taken into account.

So relieved.

It never should've happened in the first place.  But so incredibly relieved.

I wouldn't mock him. Given the prior history of these cases, pessimism was warranted. Thank God that we got the outcome we did.

Someone on the news is saying that there could be looting and destruction tonight in Minneapolis.
Why?
This would be awful. Please people of MN, don't ruin this day.

Well, we have the trial of just one of George Floyd’s killers down. Hopefully the other dirty cops don’t go free.

Excellent news

From what I've heard there is planned rioting in Portland regardless of the verdict.

Not surprising in the slightest though since there's a riot in downtown Portland every night.

No jail time can't make up for the years of lost life. But it's something and was the right decision.
