Democrats shouldn't be like the Republicans in that any ideological nonconformity is stamped out. Just because you don't agree with the exact figure of $15 doesn't mean that you oppose an increase in the minimum wage. Manchin supports a $11 minimum wage, for example. There are good faith reasons to oppose $15. Many economists believe that the minimum wage should be somewhere between 50 to 60% of the median wage. Any higher would run this risk of running into bad employment outcomes. This range would be a bit under $15 for the US as a whole, but the median wage varies widely from state to state. Some rural states could be disproportionally affected by this increase in the minimum wage. I personally support a $12 federal minimum wage to not leave these states out, but I also support the current policy in New York, where certain areas are moving to a $15 minimum wage at their own pace.
