I wasn't aware that 0.2% Hispanic Garfield County, Montana, was a "Latino working-class county" when apparently nowhere in the RGV counts as one, or that there was "no Trump increase" there when it went from R+86 in 2016 to R+89 in 2020.

This is quite possibly the stupidest map I've ever seen.

Not sure why they're "stupid" - at least in terms of premise?

With that being said:
>"Latino working-class counties"
>Doesn't include Whitfield, GA (literally the most Latino non-urban county east of the Mississippi)

Buffalo resident here - can confirm most of us are trust fund babies with millions of dollars worth of real estate.

I lost all respect for Jacobin after the Andrew Yang hit piece when he announced his run for NYC Mayor.

Measures by Trump % rather than margin, despite the well-documented decline in third party votes that tends to happen when an incumbent who previously won an open presidency runs for reelection.

Marin County: Latino working-class #populist paradise.

While some of the counties on the Jacobin map look suspect, Marin County isn't all Tiburon. San Rafael (the county seat) is about a third Hispanic, many of which live in dense apartments while working at the multimillion dollar houses in the rest of the county.

Kind of like how people think of Westchester County as some all-rich county, while its population is dominated by the very unrich Yonkers.

Apparently, Fairfield Connecticut is a working-class Latino area, gotta break the news to my millionaire investment banker uncle living over there. Seriously they just assigned counties at random. Lincon county which has 9 black voters total is labelled as a black working-class area.

For some inexplicable reason they labeled the RGV as a white working class area.

I appreciate how many counties are in the racial working class maps and not in the “all working class” map.

They have counties that are less than 1% Black/Latino listed as "Black Working-Class Counties" and "Latino Working-Class Counties".

The more I look at it, the worse it gets. They have, quite literally, classified these counties at random.

Yeah who the f**k made these? Did Jacobin hire a random guy as their data analyst and didn't bother to check their work before publishing it? This is embarrassing.

Ah yes. Nowhere says "high-education metro" like Orange County, Vermont, population 28,936. It's almost as metropolitan as Windham County is Latino!

This is like The Room for election maps. It's not just bad, it's so thoroughly bad in so many ways that it's honestly fascinating and makes me desperately want to find out just how the hell it could have happened. There is a story to be told here.

Checked through the rest of the thread and found this gem:

That is possible because of the difference in third party performance between the elections...but it didn't happen there (Trump went from 47.6% to 47.1%.)

Of course they were more enthusiastic, Rs got a bump for ACB and the Insurrectionists didn't happen until  2021, Trump favorability was up among WC females, but now they are back to Floyd levels, that why Ds have wave insurance seats, due to Jackson, Ryan and Sifton appeal to D WC females, just like Canter and Paul Ryan did with Rs due to their looks.

Jackson can follow the Jon Ossoff model with WC Females and we net 52 seats with or without GA

I hate it when people point to an increase in the share of the Trump vote as an improvement for Trump. Trump increased his share of the national popular vote, but lost the popular vote by a larger margin because of a lower third party vote. It's like saying Dukakis did better than Clinton in '92.
