Would you ever consider a resume without a cover letter?

Imagine applying for jobs instead of just using your dad's trust fund money. Why haven't you guys thought of that?

Sure. My company doesn't request them for most positions, but I suspect that's because the field and metro area are small enough that each posting only receives a few applications once you screen out the obviously unqualified. We'd probably have a different approach if every posting got 100 reasonably qualified applicants.

I have hired people without a cover letter.

It's bordering on pretentious to think that the difference between candidates comes down to a cover letter.

Really after a genuine and friendly person in the work place who gets the job done.
