You're correct. Believe it or not, when I first joined Atlas I had a socialist NY avatar, but moved back to Portland with maybe 15 posts under my belt, so I doubt anyone here will remember that.

Interesting. I wonder why you switched from maroon to lime green when you updated the avatar from OR to WA. Anyway, my opinion of you is fairly good, you are quite more hardline and less conciliatory than I am, but you also give me a lot of credit (more than I would expect from someone in your political spot) and I appreciate that.

FF. I find aspects of his views highly objectionable but not so objectionable that I'd give an HP rating to someone who provides as valuable an overall perspective as he does.

Terrible poster. Apparently gets lots of love for his " new and interesting perspective", but the fact is he's just a classic Tankie who likes to ride trumpist jock. Jfern has long done the same new and interesting thing for over a decade, but without being so consistently insufferable about it.

There is not another poster, yes myself included who attempts defending his positions in such a pseudo-intellectual condescending fashion, with an air of superiority that is utterly undeserved. And his tautologies are usually intellectually dishonest.

I believe the below parody sums him up to a tee.

And then there's this witty little Bon Mot he posted just yesterday.

Any talk of "1776" aside (which obviously was formed in reaction to the "1619 Project"), Miss Hannah-Jones is clearly trying to push an agenda, and while it's maybe not one I would call "unpatriotic," it is very obviously one that is anti-white, which is worse.

That's not new in original or Orthodoxy busting, but just pulling the mask off of a very very ugly a attitude. And sure enough, he disingenuously wrote this off as somehow being called racist just because he disagrees with the 1619 project.

I never understand why being a neo-nazi is indisputably bad, enough so to get you kicked off the forum, but being a tankie is a "new and interesting perspective."

And this isn't even just an Atlas thing.  My current elected councilmember is a proud Bolshevik Leninist and simps for a guy who was just a terrorist thug who borrowed excerpts from Marx's book to justify murdering hundreds of thousands of people.  People just think that's quirky, while if she was a Mussolini stan she'd be rightfully called a fascist and have a 0% approval rating.

I guess it's because a lot of people in America go through an edgy anti-American phase at some point in their lives where they learn about CIA activities during the Cold War, decide that everything they learned about America must be wrong and therefore the communists were actually the good guys.  And they memorize some USSR propaganda talking points about why America is bad and communism is good, and go around repeating them to annoy people for a little while until they grow out of it.  So they empathize with others who are going through that same phase.  Having an edgy nazi phase, in contrast, isn't an American rite of passage.
