Every player has been randomly assigned a team by a random number generator -- the biggest shakeup to the game, ever. No friendships. No ideology. Pure political bloodsport.

Bonanno (The Rivals)

Yankee, Blair, Oakvale. Sometimes, they just weren't on the same team -- other times they were at each other's throats. Now, though, they have to put aside past differences to stay alive. PSOL and fhtagn are also there -- are they GOTVers? Enforcers? Protection collectors? The triumvirate will decide.

Colombo (The Scrappies)

The Bonannos have a lot of the players who have split from the major machines, for one reason or another. Wulfric, Ishan, HCP, T'Chenka, Koopa, and Laki are all here. However, there are some more classic machine players to keep them in line: OBD, Cao, and LouisvilleThunder head up the family, giving orders and busting kneecaps. Scott and thumb21 are also here -- the matriarchs/patriarchs of the family.

Gambino (The Vets)

Three of the oldest players in the game head up the Gambino family: Truman, tmth, and windjammer. However, they have wildcards to spare. Spark, the ladies' man, and Poirot, the professor, are always on hand to take care of business. And Peebs is on the team too -- is ballot-box stuffing on the table? Time will tell!

Genovese (The Ballbusters)

The Genovese family is stacked. Jimmy, YT, MB, Pericles, Lumine, Griffin, dfw. Most of the key power players of the past several years are here, and yours truly is along for the ride. Indeed, the sheer force of Genovese's GOTV may be hard to top. But with this much power, and only one chairmanship, internal forces may ballbust the family before it can bust the balls of others.

Lucchese's key power player is Sestak -- others like KaiserDave, WB, YE, tack, Ninja, and SevenEleven round out the family. Conventionally successful GOTVers are in short supply -- however, there's no shortage of promising young'uns here. They just might have what it takes to rise to the top.

The Genovese family might be overpowered but too many big personalities in one family could be a problem. I'm happy where I am, our leading players won't have too many conflicting ambitions and its a cool bunch of people.

It is hilarious that you created a game where team names are based on Mafia families and you didn't mention the foremost Italian player when listing out the "notables". Anyway, I checked in the spreadsheet that I was put in the Bonanno. Not ideal!
Obviously, my home should be the Genovese, and Ted Bessell's home should be the Lucchese. Actually, since a significant part of my ancestry comes from the Lucca province and none comes from the Genoa province as it currently is, my home should probably be the Lucchese too.

Also the last family--despite it being a list of "oh crap I forgot to put these people in one"--would probably work the best just because I can't imagine the "power players" in any other group being able to be ran successfully. If you look at "effective duos to lead" Sestak x YE is near the top of the list, and doesn't have the 10-ton anchors some of the other ships do. Genovese is like one of those rich sports teams that signs expensive players with no consideration for whether they make sense as a cohesive unit or not. They might could make it work but they'd need a couple of the people to agree it's important to hold firm and keep a couple of the others in line. Easier for them than Colombo or Bonanno, I suppose.

Now, an idea like this is actually quite interesting, but there would need to be some sort of concept to tie it together. And probably not rng--the idea is actually fascinating to me but I know there are too many finicky people here to make it work (and put your finger down, I know I'm one ).
