Depends on whether or not he reveals Nixon's treasonous sabotaging of the Peace Talks. If he does, he wins, though he isn't unscathed from the revelation, if not he loses by about the same margin as HHH.

With LBJ himself running, there'd be a not-insignificant chance of Nixon not even taking the risk of engaging & being outed for doing so.

The anti war wing of the party absolutely hated LBJ by 1968, I doubt he'd have been renominated, but he would've been flattened had he ran again, anti-war Democrats would not turn out for him.

LBJ knew how to play hardball, like Nixon. LBJ spied on Goldwater and Nixon he was just never caught doing it. It would have been close if LBJ had run.

Nixon defeats any Democrat in 1968, with the exception of Robert F Kennedy, had he not been assassinated.

So LBJ loses in 1968.

Humphrey essentially ran as LBJ's second term, so I don't think there would've been any huge differences besides the possibility of LBJ picking up Arkansas and Nixon picking up Maine and possibly Washington state.

Humphrey could have won hadn't Nixon sabotaged the peace talks or if the sabotage was revealed.

Johnson probably loses the primary votes significantly but gets re-nominated by the party bosses. The party splits and Nixon cruises to victory

Is it likely that a left-wing anti-war third party challenger arises?

Actually it would of helped RFK, the focus wouldn't have been on Israel and RFK policy, that's why he cratered to a Palestinian, but it would be on Vietnam, the Convention would have been brokered and RFK and Al Gore Sr would have ran against George Romney St, Nixon wouldn't have been able to mount a serious campaign for Prez
