It used to be that squeezing the self employed was safe, because the small restaurateur, the independent repairman and the taco stand guy had no influence. No corporate media outlet or state funded news anchor cares about the burdens of the state on those who have to file their own taxes. Except now that squeeze hits Youtubers who actually have some reach and naturally being exposed to the worst side of social democracy creates ultraliberals.

Ironically most left wing Youtubers are from countries where the self employed are comparatively pampered ie. the Anglosphere.

Does anyone have info on the Diaz Ayuso spying situation? It sounds like PP themselves were spying on her. It's almost taking over Castilla y Leon news in the media coverage.

In short, anti-Ayuso members tried to hire detectives to expose corruption on the part of her brother but failed and instead word reached Ayuso who naturally wasn't happy. With recent polling that has VOX in a tie with PP after getting a tailwind from their strong CyL result I don't think it could have come up at a worse time for Casado.

While we're throwing out hot takes: the left lost ground (to the right plus abstention) with younger voters because their economic model lays a huge burden on self employed workers who subsequently end up pushed to the right. This wasn't a problem when you'd win the support of thousands of unionized voters in an area at the cost of a few angry, overtaxed shoemakers, but now kids get their news from Youtubers who have to pay extortionate import tariffs for their equipment and then pay extortionate VAT on everything they earn.

Looks like Teruel no Existe 😔

and this result is a win for nobody. The only way the separatists would go with Sanchez is if he gave them an inconceivably good deal and guaranteed his future defeat whenever some essential microparty decides to pull support. He'd be better off if the right won by one seat. As it stands another election seems imminent.

I don't know why Junts wouldn't support PSOE, this is like they've just won the jackpot, I don't think they'll have a chance to be kingmakers if the elections are repeated. They will probably ask for a lot, but they should meet PSOE halfway if they really want to get something out of this.

Because their entire identity is built around being pro-independence hardliners, so the only big demands they have are to give Puigdemont amnesty or to hold an official referendum, neither of which leaves room for compromise. Also if a VOX-PP government wins they'll have an easier time pushing for full independence than against a semi-conciliatory Socialist grand alliance.
