Before the attempted insurrection, likely 20+ GOP senators would have voted for the objection to counting of electoral votes, Trump would probably not be banned off social media and the MyPillow guy was discussing with Trump declaring martial law to stay in power.

Votes would have been closer, prior to the insurrection my personal prediction was 71-28 in Biden's favor. House is probably 160 Rs or so objecting. Also Senators had signed onto objections in GA and WI prior to the insurrection occurring, so we would have had to overturn twice the amount of objections. Trump is still on twitter in this world, but he would be effectively out of options. Even if he tried to declare martial law, he would find little backing. Pence, along with a bunch of the cabinet, 7 supreme court justices, and probably a majority of the military and secret service were ready to ensure Biden's inauguration occurred. Maybe the 25th gets invoked and Pence ends up as President for a few days. But Biden is still sworn in without issue on the 20th.

It wouldn't matter as long as the House was D, Pelosi and the D's would have still certified Biden as Prez.

Both Houses have to assertain the objection in order to be carried out

What would have happened is that the certification would have just taken longer, with them objecting to all six contested states. More House and Senate Republicans would have voted to reject the election results, but Biden would still be sworn in as expected on the 20th.

Trump might not have lost his social media, for one. Too soon to tell, but that could be the basis for some future alternate history where he wins another nonconsecutive term in 2024, which seems pretty unlikely now.

Please stop referring to the capitol riot as "1/6"

So cringe.

Yes, 'riot by fascist, racist, and anti-Semitic Trump supporters with the intent to stage a coup against the federal government' is more accurate.

On January 20, Trump basically says he's running in 2024.
Trump attacks Fauci nonstop on Twitter for pausing Johnson and Johnson.

While 1/6 was more dramatic, I may be the only one who thinks the bigger scandal was a sitting president asking the Georgia SOS to rig an election, because that came directly from the top, but which everyone promptly forgot about after 1/6.
