I gotta say, it would have been fun to see senator Walker

No, it would have been exploitative, terrible and sad. Thankfully, we will never have to worry about that and Herschel can hopefully move into a quiet, perhaps assisted community where he can live out the rest of his life without being used by vultures.

Agreed. Through the course of this campaign, we learned that Herschel Walker has hurt many people in his life and damaged their lives.

We also learned that his cognitive state leaves him inarguably incompetent in many fundamental respects, let alone holding public office.

For these reasons, there is no ethical way for him to remain in the public spotlight after tonight.

Congratulations to you, Reverend Warnock! And congratulations to my Democratic friends on your marvelous overall performance in this cycle's midterm.

It wasn't the partisan result I wanted, but I can at least take solace that y'all kept individuals such as Oz, Masters, Laxalt, and Walker away from Congress.

Why Laxalt with the other 3 as he seemed like a pretty normie R.

Didn't care for his character, just struck me as a very vindictive and unpleasant person.  Maybe it was just me, tho.

Warnock’s win now official according to Wikipedia.

They also say Warnock’s the first Dem to win a full term in this seat since Wyche Fowler back in 1986.

Btw Fowler’s still alive, as recently as 2019 he was teaching part-time at Rice University (don’t know if he still does)

Well, it certainly doesn't help! But I think this does put a bigger dent in Kemp ambitions than anything else. Hard for him to make a case when the state is turning blue under him.

Is this the worst day of Donald's life, between the Trump Org convictions and this?

He is a BIG FAT LOSER.

Emphasis on "FAT" and "LOSER."

Wouldn't this help Kemp though since he can point to how much he overperformed Walker

Democrats in other states: Every time we think our rural margins can't get worse we find new depths of hell requiring exploration

Democrats in Georgia: Our suburbs will single handily destroy GOP rule

"This is effectively the end of Mitch McConnell's obstructive career." - Joy Reid

Hope she's right!

He should have lost to Bruce Lunsford in 2008 in the first place.

Warnock will win Georgia Senate runoff, CNN projects, in final midterm rebuke of Trump’s influence

Quote
Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock will win Georgia’s Senate runoff, CNN projects, handing Democrats a key win that will give them greater leverage in the Senate next year.

With his defeat of Republican challenger Herschel Walker, Democrats will control 51 seats to the GOP’s 49.

The race closes out a difficult midterm cycle for Republicans – who won the House majority but saw their hopes for Capitol Hill dominance dashed by the troubled candidacies of some Donald Trump-backed Senate nominees, including Walker.

The runoff was a final midterm test of the former president’s influence as he embarks on a third White House bid. It was also a sign that – in the wake of President Joe Biden narrowly carrying the state in 2020, combined with two Senate runoff wins that handed him a Democratic Senate in 2021 – Georgia is now definitively a purple state.

I think the main question for Kemp would be whether Walker does worse than Loeffler?  That will be determined by what's left in DeKalb.

Wouldn't this help Kemp though since he can point to how much he overperformed Walker

"I overperformed someone demonstrably stupid and embarrassing to my state" is a technical accomplishment, but it doesn't sound particularly impressive.

He won by Romney 2012 numbers despite how much the state has changed politically since then though

But how would that go over with people like Noem and Desantis next to him.

DeSantis would beat him but I am not sure if Noem would.

'NeverTrump GOP' commentators are really embarrassing themselves as pundits/analysts. Geoff Duncan said on CNN that a stronger Republican would have easily won this race by eight points, as much as Kemp.

And to top it off, Michael Steele just remarked on MSNBC that "Georgia is still a red state: look at the map!"

It's still remarkable that Kelly Loeffler did worse.
