It's on the good side of the state ...even if the traffic is a real cl*&terf&*k that just is somehow worse  than typical day in the Bay...pretty remarkable for such a small size. It can't really be that overloaded.

Otherwise it's decent enough.

It seems like the cost of living is lower than most other CA cities, the quality of life and amenities available are about as good or better for the most part anyway (it has universities, sports teams, concerts, major attractions, proximity to nature and other big cities, etc. in addition to everything that comes with being a state capital), lower crime and poverty, less pretentious or obnoxiously woke people, and on top of all that it’s the least likely California city to be destroyed by an earthquake:

Yeah, I’d say freedom city and it seems extremely underrated. If I ever had to live in CA, it would probably be in Sacramento.

Sacto is going to be one of the smaller "up-and-coming" cities for young twenty and thirtysomethings of the next 10-20 years (assuming COVID lockdowns ease-up anytime soon); it won't be the next Austin or Seattle or anything, but I'd advise moving there now if you want to be on the leading edge of its renaissance.  Think Asheville 15 years ago

Other cities in this same category include Des Moines, Albuquerque/Santa Fe, and the "new" Portland (ME)

As a metonym for California state government? HP

As a city? Can't say I'm a fan. Too hot, bad traffic.

My home town (and I still live near there). Massive Freedom City. I’ll give a more thorough review in a bit.

It's on the good side of the state ...even if the traffic is a real cl*&terf&*k that just is somehow worse  than typical day in the Bay...pretty remarkable for such a small size. It can't really be that overloaded.

Otherwise it's decent enough.

Yeah, my dad blames that in part on Jerry Brown’s first term in which some freeways that would’ve gone through Carmichael were canceled. Granted, my dad basically hated Jerry Brown until the late 2000s when the GOP swung hard right and Brown was more of a pragmatist.

Idk if I’d say traffic is worse than the Bay, but it can get pretty bad even without the construction on 50 right now. Glad I’m not doing much commuting.

Freedom city, with the caveats that
 - I tend to like all cities that aren't L.A. style suburban sprawl
 - When I've traveled there, I've exclusively walked and used public transport in a very tight area around the Capitol, so I haven't really experienced the traffic

Sacramento's one of the few places where it can be really hot in the day, but nice and cool overnight and morning.

One of my all-time fav Mexican restaurants is in Carmichael!
