Raffensperger: "We're conducting an investigation."

Also Raffensperger: "I was literally on the other end of the line. He did this. Investigation complete."

Yeah, and this is a state thing so Biden wouldn’t be able to pardon him if that happened.

I assume he’s recusing himself & any other witnesses. Also, most SoS offices I’ve visited have an independent investigative unit alongside an inspector general.

Why the f[inks] would Biden pardoning him even be a realistic possibility?

Probably an exchange with McConnell-you convict him, bar him from running again, and I’ll pardon him for “unity.”

Biden has already said that he's not going to get involved in impeachment at all. Constitutionally it's a Senate issue and not under his purview and therefore he'll just leave it for the Senate to handle.

In what universe would there be higher than a zero chance of Biden pardoning Trump? Because it's certainly not this one.

Something else to add, Trumpists may have made a huge miscalculation going after some of these officeholders. Raffensperger probably knows his career is over no matter what he does from here so there's literally no reason to hold back, and he doesn't hold a position he can be fired from.

"Once the Secretary of State’s investigation is complete, the office’s investigations division will write a report and present it to the state election board, Worley said. The board will then decide if the matter is referred to the state attorney general or a local district attorney."

Yeh, nothing will come of this unfortunately. The board has one democrat on it.

A question for people who might know Georgia law on the subject. Can't The Fulton County District Attorney's Office go ahead and pursue an investigation and potential prosecution regardless of what this election board recommends? From recent news reports it sounds like Fulton County is looking into this full steam.

How can anyone listen to that conversation, with Trump directing Raffensperger to "find" 11,000 votes in order to overturn the election, and not believe that he did something criminal and utterly anti-American?

I mean, how can anyone not walk away believing Trump did something wrong?

This is a legitimate question, but unfortunately, if the polls are to be believed, we have millions of Americans who are convinced that Trump did nothing wrong and that the election was stolen.

It's because their value system has been distorted such that they believe that any action Trump takes is by definition legitimate because it was done by Trump.  Similarly, anything Trump says is by definition true because Trump said it.

Yes, this is certainly true. Trump has created-or rather encouraged-a cult mentality among much of the Republican base. Now, obviously there are some Republicans who aren't comfortable with this (i.e. the Republicans who voted for Trump's impeachment), but the vast majority are, and have decided to work within that construct.

Not a chance.  I'm not a fan of Brian Kemp, but he has more integrity than that.
