What are the chances Baker doesn't run for a third term?

BAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Congratulations to Maura Healey!

You seem to be happy that he's not running for reelection.

This is near certain flip without Baker or Polito running.

I think the race would still be Likely D with Polito, as she's more conservative than Baker and was mainly chosen as lt. gov. for ideological balance. For sure she's not a very staunch ideologue, still to the right of Baker.

Polito said she is not running.

The last Republican on the Governors’ council also retired last year. They could bring a few former officials out of the woodwork, but it looks like the MAGOP is giving up (for the time being).

MAGOP is mostly (especially - on party level) Trumpist now (the chairman Lyons is good example), and such candidate has zero chances in this state... They even managed (yesterday) to lose state legislative seat they held for many years...

They will be irrelevant in the state if they continue down this path.

Its not just many years. Buchanan was President the last time a Democrat held that seat.

What is the view here of Maura Healey? I've heard that she's a staunch progressive, with a "unlikable" personality, who tends to lean in heavily on social and cultural issues (or in other words, that she's the archetype of an upper middle-class, suburban Democrat). I've heard, on the other hand, that she possesses some charisma and could be a solid candidate. What is the consensus?

she will be formidable candidate even if Walsh jumps in.

Ayyadurai’s main function will be to make Diehl look good.

What are the odds Diehl gets the nomination?

I've been told and read that Diehl has no chance of winning the governorship. If so what do folks think is his ceiling in terms of percentage statewide?

35%

that sounds reasonable.
