Pulling for Sonia, don’t think she has a shot in the primary anymore though.

Ayyadurai’s main function will be to make Diehl look good.

What are the odds Diehl gets the nomination?

High. He already has Trump's endorsement and with Baker and Polito both out there isn't any obvious heavyweight on the non-Trumpist/relatively-moderate wing of the state party to countervail that.

I’d really hope Alex Morse runs for LG or AG if Healy goes for Governor

Well, he doesn't have a JD, so he certainly will not be going for AG.

Doubt he goes for LG either, and if he did, doubt he'd win. Small-town Mayor very far outside the Boston area to major statewide office is a huge step; in other words he won't be seen as particularly relevant or qualified. Also he has a relatively recent new job as Town Manager of P-Town (other side of the state as his last job - undercutting any natural geographic base of support), so it's unclear if he'd bail on that so soon for a statewide run.

Adam Hinds has already secured most of the Western Mass endorsements in the LG race. Also as much as I hate it, Democrats aren't going to want someone as scandal-ridden as Morse dragging down the gubernatorial ticket.

I’d hardly describe Morse as scandal ridden more framed

He was definitely framed, but he's still somewhat tarnished in the public eye. Plus there are a few police-related issues that could come back to haunt him.

High. He already has Trump's endorsement and with Baker and Polito both out there isn't any obvious heavyweight on the non-Trumpist/relatively-moderate wing of the state party to countervail that.

Hillman could run but I think he's enjoying retirement. Richard Ross could also run. Have heard buzz about Lelling positioning himself as a moderate focused on crime and immigration, which people forget is the platform Baker actually ran on.

Winning the primary is historically largely about fundraising in Boston, which Diehl may have a problem doing. Or the donors could just write off the race entirely and go for the Democrats.

The interesting question will be whether a serious independent gets in, even if not Baker or Polito. We had two races with one and then two without and there's plenty of space for one with Diehl as the nominee. If Democrats somehow nominate someone other than Walsh, Healey, or Kennedy, I could even see an independent winning.

Why, though?

Why not? He’s a young, qualified candidate would have have as good a chance as any. I don’t know anything about him other than what’s on his wikipedia page, but unless he’s got some skeletons I’m not aware of, he seems like a fine candidate.

Sorry. Nothing against Eric Lesser. I just don't see the point of running for LG when it's a crowded field already.

You basically have zero responsibilities, it pays $120K, and it's a decent launching pad for higher office if desired. So of course everyone is looking at getting into said race.

No, Sonia does not have a chance anymore, because her staffer did what will cost police votes....

RIP Berkshire bald guy ticket.

Sad to see him drop out, but it's not surprising. He would have been a decent sacrificial lamb against Baker (and he could have won if Baker fell through), but with so many big names as possible candidates, there's no way he would get through a primary.

No one is donating to Act blue after D's fouled up OH, NC and FL due to Biden 54 Disapproval and it's mainly due to his 30/65 rating on the Border and Immigrants walking in with Covid

I donate 5 or 10 but I am not even doing that no nearly as I did in 20 the biggest I ever donated with Stimulus checks

Sad to see Downing out I really liked his platform and campaign. If I was in MA id probably vote for Danielle Allen shes an awesome progressive and advocate for RCV. Not that it matters much anyway if Healey runs the race is hers no doubt about it.

It often is. Check out 1982, when John Kerry won with 29% of the vote.
