Let's just pray that it doesn't end up being Roy Moore or Mo Brooks. Also I wonder how likely it is that they get someone dumber than Tubs.

I hope they nominate Moore.

Roy, Any Possibility Exists!

A regularly scheduled midterm election will have higher turnout than a special.

Can't imagine he'd be interested after what he went through last year.

I still think Brooks will win the primary. Not only is there a runoff, but I feel like Brooks' supporters are more enthusiastic to vote (and therefore more likely to vote) than Britt's.
Has there ever been a Woman elected from Alabama to the U. S. Senate? Would be nice to have Britt as Senator.

None have ever been elected, but Maryon Allen was a placeholder Senator for a few months in 1978 after her husband Jim died in office.

In any case, I don't think Brooks is nearly as strong a frontrunner as people seem to think he is.

Britt is crushing him in fundraising and seems to be running an aggressive campaign on the ground, while he's just trying to coast on the Trump endorsement.

I'm not surprised. Imagine wanting to serve with a guy who basically sympathized with the asshole who threatened to blow up the Capitol.

Trump is reportedly mad that Brooks is running a lackluster campaign and has failed to put the race away. Plus he was actually impressed when he met Britt and her husband (a former Bama football star who later played for the Pats).

I wouldn't put it past Trump if he decides to switch his endorsement to Britt. Trump likes to align himself with "winners", and Britt, like Shelby, is supportive of him and won't work against him.

But does it really matter who Trump endorses? We are talking about the home state of Luther Strange, you know. And to quote Romney for the tenth time or so, endorsements are not "worth a thimble of spit."

For a while, the conventional wisdom on here and elsewhere was that Brooks had the primary locked up largely because of the Trump endorsement.

Even now there are some people who still think that. Just look at the first post on this page.

It's clearly the Shelby machine is fighting back hard. Moo is fizzling out.

One thing that hasn't really been discussed - Britt's husband being a former Bama/NFL player. Bama football is a religion in that state and I think that status carries almost as much weight as a Trump endorsement.

Frankly, I think Brooks loses. When he has to resort to bragging about voting for Roy Moore...

Gee, when else have we seen a candidate enter as a presumed huge frontrunner but blow it through a horrible campaign?

Uhhh:
X to doubt

As much as you'd like to believe otherwise, Brooks is not looking like a winner.

Cope and seethe. Domestic terrorist sympathizers have no place in the Senate.

I think the fact that “Not Mo Brooks” is getting 60-70% in the polls between Durant & Britt suggests that he’s gonna lose the run off to one of them. It’d be rare for a high profile divisive candidate like Brooks to do much better in the run off. Could be wrong, but I expected him to walk it like Walker is in Georgia - the fact he isn’t, and the fact he’s a proven statewide loser, makes me think Alabama just isn’t that in to him.

At this point, I honestly wonder how likely it is that Brooks doesn't even make the runoff. Also from what I've heard, the fact that he's from Huntsville works against him in a statewide primary for whatever reason.

I'd have to think Britt is a clear favorite. I actually wonder if she wins in the first round.

So is Brooks going to win it after all?

It's almost certainly going to a runoff, where I would suspect Brooks would be favored - especially if Trump recommits. The fact that he dropped the endorsement and called him "woke" was very cringy.

Brooks may very well win a runoff, but Trump is not going to re-endorse him.

Shocker. RIP bozo. Guess it was time for Katie Britt to take down his name and kick his ass.
