It's official. Safe R obviously (inb4 MT Treasurer makes some snarky and obnoxious "Likely D imo tbh" post) but the R primary will interesting. Let's hope to God it's not Mo Brooks.

Let's just pray that it doesn't end up being Roy Moore or Mo Brooks. Also I wonder how likely it is that they get someone dumber than Tubs.

Who care? They'd lose to the Democrat if the DSCC runs ads like this:

imo mo brooks loses the general election if dems run ads like this:

A regularly scheduled midterm election will have higher turnout than a special.

Broke: Hoping for Doug Jones to restore the Democrats.

Woke: Nick Saban and a campaign focused on the failings of Alabama's other senator.

It is only fitting for the citizens of Alabama that Tommy Tuberville gets Mo Brooks as a companion in the Senate.

Any Republican will vote the same, and if Moore wins he's an embarrassment to the national party and it's not like Mo Brooks isn't insane either. Moore is just as crazy as Mo Brooks, in fact, Moore is just more willing to make crazy statements that embarrass McConnell, etc.

Nominate Moore again! It's not like he would vote any differently.

Same reason I hoped for Kobach over the supposedly moderate Marshall in Kansas. It's not like they would have voted any differently.

Yeah I remember all the takes about Marshall being a "Reasonable Republican," and then he voted to object.

GA-14 is on the border, so Marjorie Taylor Greene can easily move to Alabama and run.

Gus Malzahn just took a $21.5 mil buyout and could self-fund. There's also an open seat in NC for Gene Chizik — just need to find something for Terry Bowden to complete the set of failed Auburn coaches in the US Senate.

Bespoke: resurrecting Bear Bryant from the dead & running him when Saban inevitably declines.

After suffering a humiliating 20+ pt. loss to Tommy Tuberville in 2020, Sessions' political career is over, and Trump almost certainly would support an opponent if he did decide to run again. Moreover, I think Sessions himself is tired and is no longer interested in launching another bid for public office.

I believe I remember him stating after the primary that his life in public office is over
