President Joe Biden declines to run for reelection. Attorney General Merrick Garland runs for the Democratic nomination and defeats Vice President Kamala Harris in the Democratic Primaries.

Mike Pence wins the Republican nomination.

Who are the running mates, and what does the map look like?

Garland is able to keep the Biden coalition together effectively, while Pence struggles to get any excitement for his campaign. He's overshadowed consistently by Cotton, who is clearly looking ahead to 2028, and is hobbled by both his ties to Trump and his perceived lack of loyalty to Trump. This one is over by 10PM.

Attorney General Merrick Garland (D-IL)/Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) - 351 Electoral Votes, 53.2% of the popular vote
Former Vice President Mike Pence (R-IN)/Senator Tom Cotton (R-AK) - 187 Electoral Votes, 44.5% of the popular vote
