(West Branch, Iowa)

(PBrunsel walks to the podium in front of the Hoover Presidential Museum. A band plays, “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” jubilantly.)

PBrunsel: I guess it all ends here, the tour ha come to an end. Though I will miss the campaign, I will always remember what this tour has done not just to me, but to the nation.

(Cheers and applause!)

PBrunsel: Though there has been a great deal of negativity, back stabbing, half truths, plain out lies, and all; the sins and mud we consider politics, this vice presidential campaign has been one I will always remember no matter where I go in life.

(Cheers and applause!)

PBrunsel: I look beyond those hills-

(I point to the hills at my right)

PBrunsel: - and I know that beyond them a great man is buried. This great man is Herbert Hoover, a man of the people who was that, and did not use it just during a campaign.

(Cheers and applause!)

PBrunsel: Though born to a poor blacksmith an orphaned at the age of 9, Herbert Hoover did not give up and be lazy, he worked hard, he kept dedicated, and he became a millionaire, and president, Not too shabby for a boy who left for Oregon at age 9 with only two dimes to rub together.

(Laughs cheers, and applause)

PBrunsel: I know that even though this campaign has come to an end, America will never have this same fate.

(Cheers and applause!)

PBrunsel: I may have traveled the nation, but there is nothing like coming back to this town.

(Cheers and applause!)

PBrunsel: A town like this too, will never have an end. It will continue, and people will remember West Branch as the town Herbert Hoover called home, and loved dearly.

(Cheers and applause!)

PBrunsel: As I end this tour may it be said that we never gave up. We fought the good fight, we dreamed the right dream, and we kept the dream of Ronald Reagan and Herbert Hoover alive.

(Cheers and applause!)

PBrunsel: All in all, not bad, not bad at all.

(Cheers and applause as PBrunsel walks off the stage to shake hands. Greenwood’s “I’m Proud to be an American,” plays.)
