Africa is a continent, not a country. It's like saying both Americas, Europe or whole Asia were a country and it's kinda inappropriate/ignorant to generalize such a diverse continent as a simple "country" (I don't think you intended that).

Perhaps OP was referring to the Roman province of Africa

Horrible Province, I'll never forgive how dirty they did the Carthaginians. I may be biased, though, as someone named in part for a Phoenician goddess.

Horrible song! All of the many covers of it suck too.

A classic moment from a classic show! The sketch following that moment was great too, especially when Wayne Brady apologizes to the two black people in the audience for leading an African chant with three awkward white dudes backing him up.

Coolest jungles, an issue I have been autistically extremely passionate about ever since first comparing Tarzan, The Jungle Book and The Road to El Dorado and then evaluating my findings at the Brookfield Zoo’s jungle exhibits.

I'd like to go there but I'm worried it will be difficult because I don't speak African.

I have worked and lived in West Africa.

Imagine a tropical environment which has had 250 years of corruption, barbarity and illness ravage the country.

Destitution is everywhere - extreme poverty so endemic you can see in 25 years their grandchildren will be no different.

Yet this dystopian landscape is beautifully punctuated by smiling, genuinely happy people with few material possessions.

An amazing place.

I can swing a dead cat in any random location in DC, and hit at least 2 people who are returning Peace Corps volunteers who served in the dark continent.

Sounds like fun, actually.   I could totally do that.
