I'm a socialist and I find Jimmy Dore to be viscerally unpleasant. I would happily support someone with his politics who isn't a complete dick

Agreed. He's just a grifter with no principles.

Jimmy Dore, a guy who thinks it's more worthwhile to build bridges with white supremacists than liberals, is a "progressive"? Alrighty then!

What do people think about the effort to draft Jimmy Dore for Senate in Ohio?

The Cincinnati Enquirer has already pretty much anointed Amy Acton as the Democratic nominee, even though she's a Republican who worked for Mike DeWine. Who are real progressives supposed to vote for if Acton is the nominee?

Dr. Acton.  You know, the one who isn't a Trump supporter.

I mean it could be entertaining seeing Jimmy in the senate. Seriously, this race is pretty safe R so it doesn’t matter, Jimmy might make the margins for the Democratic candidate better by pulling off a few #populist voters.

Trump knows how to play economic distress even if he has no solution for it. He's not on the ballot in Ohio in 2022, and he may already be toxic (of course I would need to see a poll of Ohio to confirm or deny that statement). No, the poll of Iowa is not relevant to Ohio except for Iowa and Ohio voting alike in 2016 and 2020. The Ohio GOP has a huge scandal, and that could open the state to some Democrats in statewide elections.

Jimmy Dore could fail to get 40% of the vote if he runs.

Dore would lose (and lose badly), but not because of his "ideology."

Frankly, given it's Ohio, I don't care who runs as long as they don't suck money away from actually competitive races like Pennsylvania or Wisconsin, unfortunately Dore is not only a bad candidate, but his online presence means he likely would be someone to suck money away. Honestly the best choice here is some random former state legislator or someone like that.

It doesn't matter because this race is likely R at the most optimistic for the Democratic candidate, but Dore would probably lose worse than anyone else possible. Even Kucinich would be a better nominee. Hell, they're damn near almost the same when it comes to their political persona.

I’m assuming Dore would run on the People’s Party ticket and both the Democrats. He would mostly pull from nonvoters, and then generally anti-establishment voters that may lean R. I don’t see how this negatively harms Democrats if that is the case.

Nonsense. Are you suggesting that Sherrod Brown’s retail politicking is not based on pure policy? Union members in Ashtabula county would like to have a word with you, as their Trump/DeWine/Brown votes show a clear ideology geared towards helping the working class rise up against the powerful elites and their blue checkmarks on Twitter. I would’ve thought someone from a Trump/Tester/Daines state would understand the perfectly consistent ideology of good, hard-working small town folk, and their concerted effort to put only people invested in the working class in Washington, and cleanse it of its stain of elitism and end the domination of the ruling class, but I guess you’ve fallen victim to the nefarious wealthy outsider pro-lobbyist propaganda of New Jersey Greg and Maryland Matt.

Unfortunately, my county/precinct is immensely elitist Broken heart, a corporate elitism which is slowly but surely rubbing off on me, even though I grew up in a #populist Purple heart town. Cry I just don’t understand these people, not anymore...

Lmao he won't run for Senate and would probably lose the primary, but don't act like he doesn't have a better shot than any other Democrat at the general.

The only good thing Jimmy Dore ever did was those Haley Barbour impersonator videos [1] [2]. Beyond that, he is a natural elitist masquerading as an everyday person (and would be perceived by most that he'd been preaching to as a natural elitist to boot).

You are going to be very disappointed in November 2022, OH is gone and NC is a very uphill battle in a Democratic President's midterm.

Actually he is a Trump supporter in much the same way that Jfern, Glenn Greenwald, and any Bernie or Bust voters who voted for the Get Republicans Elected Every November in so-called “protest” were/are Trump supporters for all meaningful purposes.  Dore also has a history of deliberately peddling false rape accusations as a calculated political tactic.

Fortunately, no one here has heard of him nor would Ohio Democrats want anything to do with him even if they had heard of him.

If it's Timken Vs Ryan, I could see a path towards a D Win. If it's Vance vs Ryan or Mandel vs Ryan, Ds won't win.
