I don't think Dr. Acton's decision making would influence Ryan's here. Acton could still run, but Ryan would beat her in a primary.

I meant, Dr. Acton probably won’t run either way b/c from what I’ve heard through the grapevine, she doesn’t like the spotlight and was very resistant to the idea when the DSCC reached out.

Now that Tim Ryan is in, I am feeling much better about his chances and Jeff Jackson chances.

This makes Rs spend resources in OH and it hurts so their chances in OH in 2024 when they want to defeat Brown.

This will be the Bullock v Daines premier race of 2022

Sure its Ohio in a Biden midterm, but its not like Tim Ryan has any better options for 2022. He's probably getting his district cut up after reapportionment anyway.

OH and NC expands the battleground beyond WI, PA, and GA, Portman did D's a favor by retiring, otherwise he would of been Reelected easily

If D's can't defeat McCrory and Warnock doesn't make the Runoff, OH will be a Democratic takeover.

I mean Ryan may be the favorite but let’s all agree that Amy Action is one of the best names for a politician ever.

Great news, OH will be very competitive, just like NC, this isn't 2016 anymore where Portman won by 21 pts.

Just like we have to watch out for NH should Sununu run

It's Acton, no "i" - Ack-ton.

We need a bipartisan Amy Acton / Jim Justice ticket!

The way you judge if OH is gonna be competetive is a Columbus Dispatch or University of Cincinnati or Mason Dixon.

M.DeWine is so popular with AA, he is just as popular DeSantis is. This is why Ds may have a tough time winning in 2022

That's why I initially rated it as Tossup but those Job numbers released today doesn't look good for Biden

The best to hope for is a neutral cycle if the Recession lasts thru 2022

It seems like a pandemic doctor’s experience might not be that relevant or compelling by November 2022.

And in any event, it's not like running as a doctor even in the middle of the pandemic helped out another Democratic candidate (Barbara Bollier) running for the Senate in a significantly-Republican state.

I wouldn't discount Acton in a primary against Ryan. I'd reckon she has much higher name ID than Ryan, she was all over TV with DeWine at the height of the pandemic. And ultimately the target of a lot of right wing angst.

It's a Recession, OH is safe D, and GA is likely to go R in a runoff while Ds win WI and PA, but if the Economy grows it OH, GA and NC will be in play

My guess is Dr. Acton didn’t want to run.  Even so, Ryan is the wrong guy.  We’d be better off either running a rising star to raise their profile or running someone like Nan Whaley who will over-perform in a region or demographic that is actually open to voting for us (even if you think we can stop the bleeding with WWC voters, Tim Ryan won’t over-perform with them the way Zack Space* did in 2018* Ryan only beat frigging Christina Hagen by single-digits).

I suppose it could be worse, at least this means we’re probably not running Michael Coleman (great Mayor, terrible statewide candidate, also hasn’t run for anything since 2006).

*Space definitely has some real crossover over appeal in Appalachia - at least to a point - but even that wasn’t enough to beat Keith Faber in a D wave and IIRC Faber was about as weak as you can get while still being generic R.

Nah. He'll over-perform in the Valley, which is still critical to statewide success, for better or worse. Yes, Ryan only beat Hagan by single digits, but Hagan is an extraordinary name in and around Youngstown, and he still outran Biden by about 5%. Plus, his district is getting chopped anyway.

This race and NC unfortunately Safe R, but if the Economy pulls out of Recession next yr it will get competetive.

D's should concentrate on AZ, WI, PA and GA is going to Runoff

Hope that Vance or Stivers run (I know they aren't very similar but I'd prefer both over Mandel or Timken)
