Two-term Gov. Phil Murphy is term-limited, can't run for a third term.

New Jersey Rep. Al Leiter, a former MLB player wins the 2025 GOP primary against three other candidates, and faces off against Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver, who wins the 2025 Democratic nomination against Senate President Stephen Sweeney.

Who wins?

The Democrat, this is New Jersey, unless Murphy does something stupid, she'd win

I think Leiter would win 50%-48%, he would supercharge the white male vote to turn out in droves against Oliver.

But New Jersey tends to elect Republicans after a two-term Democratic governor. Tom Kean won in 1981 despite the close race against Florio and the voter suppression that happened in 1981.
