Man, the National Anthem has never done much for me but Gaga gesturing to the flag that fascists JUST attempted to tear down and replace with the flag of their dictator at "our flag was still there" really hit me.

Isn't Garth Brooks on the conservative side? I wasn't too surprised when he turned down Trump's inauguration but I wouldn't have imagined he would perform for Biden's.

With forthcoming Non-Stop Republican obstructionism in the Senate, renewed efforts at gerrymandering and voter suppression at the state level, inevitable midterm losses probably handing back Republicans both houses of Congress, and the fact that Biden's greatest weakness is a president may be that--even after everything Republicans did to undermine Obama--he still doesn't fundamentally understand the need to play hardball with Republicans from day one to get even one iota of his agenda implemented. Plus, we now have an energized and nationally organized violent paramilitary Republican party auxiliary ready to inflict violence, including killing, on any left-wingers they can get their hands on.

Yeah, I'm relieved to see the back end the former f###er in Chief leaving office. But at the end of the day I'm not so much optimistic as instead seeing this as a merely temporary staunch of the bleeding. Sad

I've always assumed he's a moderate Democrat.

He turned down playing at Trump's inauguration in 2017.

The Benediction by Rev Silvester Beaman is one that I will never forget. It was sheer poetry in its text and delivery.

And yes, I was mesmorized by Lady Gaga's performance and interpretation of the Anthem.
