Quote
“I don’t know enough about that yet. I want to see the pros and cons, so I’m waiting to see all the facts. I’m open up to see everything,” Sen. Manchin said on CNN when asked about whether he would support statehood for the District of Columbia.

He's such a DINO, he should switch parties. He sides with the GOP on pretty much every issue TBH.

IMO Murkowski/Romney are more likely to support DC/PR statehood

C’mon Joe, with those four new Democratic senators you’ll be able to vote nay on every liberal piece of legislation. It’s the only way to secure your coveted moderate bona fides and make your re-election in West Virginia inevitable. Trust me.

This is the second most important thing that can be done in 100 days.

It will ensure the party that is most often on the side of middle class Americans has a fair shot at power in the Senate.

Please tell me it’s true

Yeah, but I thought it was so obvious he wouldn't vote with the Democrats that someone on Atlas was willing to make a... strange bet that he wouldn't???

That was a very ambivalent answer. As a Democrat, the answer to the question "Should Washington, DC become a state?" is unequivocally YES.

Makes sense, for a West Virginia Senator.

It was NID he was going to vote in party line in most important democratic legislation, GOP needs to stop this "Manchin isn't going to vote for x thing", he will.

If Democrats had any political sense (they don't) they'd ram this through ON DAY ONE while the focus is still on the insurrection.  They can tie it to the insurrection while emotions are high and say DC needs more autonomy over its policing.  What are republicans whining about unity going to say?  700,000 people in DC don't deserve representation in congress.  RAM IT THROUGH NOW or quit your jobs as politicians.

Constitutional option like Judicial Filibuster, this should of been done in 2009, like Tom Udall said, but Obama didn't pull the trigger

People from West Virginia have zero business complaining about other political subdivisions being granted statehood for frivolous reasons.

Merge half of DC and half of Puerto Rico and approve them into the union as one state.

The remaining halves of DC and Puerto Rico will be separate entities and the people who live in them will be without statehood.
