I think it would make a perfect HBO or Netflix series some day. And man the current events are shaping up to make for one hell of a series finale.

But regardless of exact format — Movie, mini-series, regular series — who would you cast in key roles such as Trump himself, Melania, Ivanka, Jared, Junior, Pence, Hillary, Biden, Obama, Comey, Barr, Miller, Bannon, Manafort, Stone, Flynn, Meadows, Conway, Mattis, Kelly, Mnuchin, Pelosi, Schumer, McConnell, Ryan, Graham, McCain, Cruz, Fauci, etc.?

God, there's going to be so many of these, I can't wait. And as for casting, it totally depends on the project. For example, you won't get a huge star for Mnuchin if he's a background character, right? And the person you get to play someone like Trump is super important. So easy to slip into caricature. But maybe that's what you want sometimes? Being a casting director would be a lot of fun.

Donald Trump: I loved Brendan Gleeson's Trump portrayal in 'The Comey Rule', and would love to see him play it again - in something better written - but that's unlikely to happen, you never know. The much missed Philip Seymour Hoffman would've knocked this out of the park too.

Mitch McConnell: there's no actor better suited to playing Cocaine Mitch than Frank Langella! He has a similar speaking manner. A somewhat passable resemblance - hey, no one in Hollywood looks like Mitch McConnell, come on. And Langella has experience playing villains like Dracula and Nixon.

Lindsey Graham: You need someone who can play charming, southern, and effeminate. And is also short. I'm going to propose Jack Black.* Yeah. And if you don't think he can do it - watch his performance in 'Bernie' (2011), and change your mind. *Kevin Spacey would be my first choice here, but he's not an option.

Hillary Clinton: Frankly, I'm surprised Meryl Streep hasn't played her yet. If this is about the 2016 election, I can think of no one better suited to play Hillary.

Jared Kushner: The eternally boyish Colin Hanks. Or Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Kellyanne Conway: Kristin Chenoweth, who played a similar role in The West Wing.

Eric Trump: My two picks are just slightly too old for the part, and I don't think the role of freakin' Eric Trump is worthy of an Irishman-type digital de-aging. Shame too, because both Barry Pepper and Jake Busey bear more than a passing resemblance. Or did, fifteen years ago.

Chris Christie: Yeah, this one's a no-brainer. Jeff Garlin.

Paul Manafort: You want old, sleazy, and overly manicured. John Travolta.

Ted Cruz: I'm going to go with Michael Stuhlbarg. Great actor, and the resemblance is there - especially with the beard!

Roger Stone: Jigsaw himself, Tobin Bell. Slap some thick-rimmed glasses on him, and the look is complete. If we need someone a little younger: Robert Knepper would be a fine choice too.

I honestly can't wait for Trump era stories to hit the screens. So many events. So many characters. So many books to adapt! It's going to be a riot.

Trump is Biff from Back2Future so it's not hard to do a movie about him, since Biff was parodied after Trump himself

For one thing it has to be a TV series. It would work better than as one movie longer than all of the 'Hobbit' and 'Lord of the Rings' movies combined.

Anyway, I'm not so sure who I would cast in this absolutely staggering cast outside of Steve Buscemi in drag as Kellyanne Conway.

If Christian Bale can successfully pull off being Dick Cheney, than he'd probably make a good Donald Trump too.

Love these - perfect castings!

Goodman also played a fine Rex Tillerson on SNL!

Oh, I thought of one! Stephen Tobolowsky as Doug Jones.

Wow! I never noticed it before, but there is a resemblance.

There's definitely a resemblance there. But I think Walton Goggins can play a crack smokin', drunk drivin' son of a vice president on a quest for personal redemption quite well.

You can't make a movie about  the Trump presidency, because too much happened, and our attention spans will be even shorter so long movies will be quite rare, especially if the movie aims for commercial success. A movie about Trump's ascendancy will be controversial, so if it being made will focus on it's downfall especially the claims of election fraud and the subsequent storming of the capitol.

A TV series could highlight the entire presidency. The problem is that the series will lack focus on how the fertile soil was being laid by congress before Trump ascended into power (and will they focus on Trump's business career and his birtherism?). It will probably picture Bush and Republican moderates as heroes, while they weren't (esp. if the GOP is still relevant when being made), aside of people like Baker, Scott and perhaps Hogan who are not relevant on the national scene at the time.

It's also way too early to make such a movie for obvious reasons.

My nomination: Florence Pugh as Hillary Clinton.
Octavia Spencer for Kamala Harris (who would certainly have an important role because the movie would be considered too white, but when the movie / series is going to be made, she'll likely be too old.)

Jesse Eisenberg does have the same vacant, soulless eyes as Kushner. That's why he was so good as Mark Zuckerberg.

Also I don't know if a quasi-'Arrested Development' reunion would be a good idea in a serious political biopic. I would just be distracted watching and waiting for them to their impersonations of chickens.

Sorry for the double-post but it just dawned on me that Sherilyn Fenn would be perfectly cast as Dianne Feinstein.
