My crystal ball tells me the next few presidents will be.

44th President John F. Kerry 2005-2009 - Defeats Bush/Cheney in 2004

45th President William H. Frist 2009-2017 - Defeats Kerry/Edwards in 2008 and Edwards/Ford Jr. in 2012

46th President John S. Edwards 2017-2001 - Will defeat Bill Owens/Jeb Bush in 2016 election

Anyone disagree?

If Bush wins in 2004 then ....
2008 = Hillary Clinton becomes first female President by beating Jeb Bush.
2012 = Hillary beats Bill Frist.

If Kerry wins in 2004 then ....
2008 = Colin Powell beats John Kerry.
2012 = Colin Powell beats John Edwards.

Colin Powell's credibility is in tatters, thanks to his association with the Bush regime.

True, but if Kerry beats Bush in 2004 I just don't see the GOP going back to another "Bush".  I see them going for more of a centrist.  The only prominent centrists in the GOP are Powell, McCain, and Giuliani.  McCain can't win the nomination since many in the GOP regard him as a turncoat for not supporting Bush strongly enough.  Giuliani is simply too liberal on social issues for the Southern Republicans.  This leaves Powell.

She wont be able to run the 2nd time. She will get shot. You know that. There are some many people who would do any thing to get a women out of office. That is why i would never vote for a women.

Regime?  Bandit, cut the "HAHAHA" and give some analysis.  Bill Frist and Elizabeth Dole are both valid presidential candidates.

Hillary Clinton beating Jeb Bush?

cognacXO posting a valid topic?

Wow this thread is weird.

Anyway, my prediction would be:
2004-2008 Kerry (D)
2008-2016 Owens (R)

You would probably refer to Bush by something much harsher than a "goofball" and yet he still got elected.  It is possible for people you don't like to get elected believe it or not.

Grow up dude.  Give some analysis and lose some punctuation marks.

I can't help it! You all are making me laugh by saying such hilarious things such as Bill Owens or Bill Frist might be President someday!

Only Dan Quayle would be sillier.

Bill Owens has given the impression that he is considering running.  He's a popular governer, I don't see what is so crazy about it.

Would you have responded similarly in 99 if someone were to suggest George W. Bush running?

Owens is a right-wing wingnut. He'd probably get laughed right out of office.

Pretty much anyone to the right of Kucinich is a jackboot-wearing fascist to you though Wink  Do you not consider George Bush also to be a "right-wing wingnut?"

I'm reading his profile and I don't see anything that extreme about it.

Indeed I do. Most everyone I know agrees.

Ok, then if George Bush is a "right-wing wingnut" and still could get elected then surely other "right-wing wingnuts" could also get elected.  Thus the concept of President Owens is not as absurd as you make it out to be.

Owens is a right-wing wingnut. He'd probably get laughed right out of office.

No he isn't man Smiley

He a fairly generic republican, who won by a slim margin (2%) in 1998 and then cruised to a crushing 60%+ win in 2002. He Likable on TV and come from a GOP leaning state rather than a solidly GOP state... He's more moderate than many within the GOP and yet he would be acceptable to the Republican grassroots... I could live with either Frist or Owens as President, not that I would vote for either Smiley .. well that depends if the Democratic Party continues to dive off of left field… Sad

As for I would see things going from here on...

George Bush/ Dick Cheney (REP) 2004-2008

John Edwards/Bill Nelson (DEM) 2008-2012

Bill Owens/ Mat Blunt (REP) 2012-2016

Harold Ford/ Russ Feingold (DEM) 2016-2024

Mat Blunt/ Jo Republican (REP) 2024-?Huh Grin

Harold Ford/ Russ Feingold (DEM) 2016-2024
In my dreams.  I'm a big Harold Ford fan.  He's a well reasoned centrist.  Those on the far right probably dislike him because he is left of center, and those on the far left probably dislike him because he's "tainting" the Democratic party with his moderate politics.  He's also very well spoken and presidential.  I hope you're right... we'll see.

Lunar, Bush was not elected, he was chosen by his father's supreme court appoitments. It was all a big right wing conspiracy.

Yeah, cause you know 10 years before the vote, Daddy Bush was sitting around the fireplace with little George on his lap saying "... and just in case you fail to take Florida by more than 0.01% of the popular vote, I'm going to stack the Supreme Court in your favor, and I'll make sure none of them die during the next two Presidential terms."  hahaha . . . thanks for the laugh, Nixon.

Did you really just say that?  Suffice to say I STRONGLY disagree.  Saying a President will get shot because she is a woman is just as ignorant as suggesting that President Colin Powell would get shot because he is black.
