I’m officially recanting my statements of being unhappy that the GOP lost the senate . The Republicans deserved to lose it

Might be the first time I've ever genuinely regretted voting for Ted Cruz or, on a larger scale, thought about leaving the Republican Party.

There is an old proverb that you are known by the company you keep.

I am certain that you would never condone acts like we've seen today.  However, maintaining association with a party that has come to this implies that you give its actions at least tacit approval.  That's why I left the party, long ago.

I encourage you to switch your affiliation to Independent.  Trust me, it doesn't prevent you from continuing to vote for Republicans on a case-by-case basis. Smiley

Anyone still wanna argue that Andrew F—King Jackson or something was a worse president?

I offer now as the time to make that claim.

No, Trump has certainly cemented his place at the bottom of the list.  It's not even close.

Please take the religious discussion OUT of this thread.  It is a derailment.  I will report every subsequent post by either side on that discussion.

CNN: GOP source claiming Trump is "...out of his mind", stopping the certification vote is "...all he can think about". Does NOT believe the cabinet will execute the 25th amendment, but the idea has been entertained.

Pence already broke with Trump over the EV counting.  He's got nothing else to lose now by invoking the 25th.

Does CNN think the 25th won’t happen or does trump

I read it as the GOP source doesn't think it will happen.

I predicted earlier that Trump would be booted from Twitter by Jan. 31, but it might be even sooner.

Will Trump get a presidential library?

He’s not simply a bad president...he’s a terrorist.

Yes, but it will be located in Moscow.

Facebook and Instagram have both locked Trump's accounts for 24 hours.

DOGEBOMB

no freaking way.  more than half of these thugs are literally voting to object to Biden's clear win.

You'd need a majority of the House to impeach and 2/3 of the Senate (66 for now) to convict. Not implausible.

The House vote just hit 218...can we just stop it now?

No. All the traitors need to be on the record.

I've seen reports that four people have died but the only person I'm aware of is the air force veteran from California that was shot.  Does anyone know anything about who the other three were?

They died from medical emergencies, probably heart attacks or something. Their names haven't been released yet probably since the families are still being notified.

I have heard reports, but don't know how reliable they are, that the other three were:

1. Fell off the Capitol steps and hit their head.
2. Heart attack after a flash-bang went off close to them.
3. Heart attack after accidentally self-tasing.

Sixkiller is a Native American surname.  The University of Washington had a star quarterback in the early 1970s named Sonny Sixkiller.  His uniform number?  6.  Smiley

So has Ossoff and Warnock been sworn in?

No, this won't likely happen until the Senate reconvenes on Jan. 19.  The counties haven't even finished counting yet; overseas ballots can arrive as late as tomorrow and still be counted, and provisional ballots can still be cured by the same deadline.  The counties must certify their results by Jan. 15, and the state should do so shortly thereafter since both races are outside the recount margin.  Once that occurs, they can be sworn in.  Loeffler remains in the Senate until Warnock is sworn in, since she's filling Johnny Isakson's unexpired term; Perdue's seat is vacant until Ossoff is sworn in.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/mike-pence-was-livid-after-all-the-things-ive-done-for-trump-according-to-oklahoma-senator-who-spoke-with-the-vp/ar-BB1cyQEq?ocid=uxbndlbing

Quote
Vice President Mike Pence became uncharacteristically angry on Wednesday during the siege on the Capitol, according to Republican Sen. Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma.
"I've known Mike Pence forever," Inhofe told reporters on Capitol Hill Wednesday night. "I've never seen Pence as angry as he was today."
"I had a long conversation with him. He said, 'After all the things I've done for [Trump].'"

It goes to show just how blinded by his office Mike Pence has been that after four years he still had not learned that loyalty with Trump is a one-way street.

I initially read that as a "one-way tweet". Smiley

I had this question a couple weeks ago and I don't think I got an answer--can anyone be preemptively pardoned? I mean, someone must be convicted of a specific crime before being given the get-out-of-jail-free card, right?

No, they don't have to be convicted; see Ford's pardon of Nixon.

Trump is going to Camp David.

I'm sure it's because he's "feeling unwell" or something.  Wink

(A terrific novel, as are all of Knebel's political thrillers.)
