Describe a Trump voter who voted for Biden in the primary.

Perhaps someone who just wanted to stop Bernie? Or who flipped after the riots?

Possibly a Obama-Trump former Democrat in a state where the GOP cancelled its presidential primary or only had Trump on the ballot

A registered "Democrat" in a state that has party registration (like NC or WV) who only voted for Biden in the primary because he was the most palatable Democrat, but maintained their support for Trump in the general election (which they have been voting Republican for several election cycles at this point).

I know Ben Shaprio preferred Biden winning the primary because in the long term he thought a Biden primary win would be better for America so someone with that line of thinking.

Even in an open primary state, it makes more sense to vote for Biden if he's the best of the Dems. Participating in the non-competitive GOP primary doesn't really do much, unless you want to make a symbolic statement for or against Trump. And then there are many states, like Virginia, where they cancelled the Republican presidential primary.

Dave Rubin voted Biden in the primary and Trump in the general for this reason.

Probably a halfway decent number of Republican-leaners in open primary states or DINOs in closed primary states who just thought Biden was the least bad Democrat.

I have a friend who voted Bloomberg in the primaries for that same reason, but voted for Trump in November.

I imagine some of those weirdos in southern West Virginia did this.

A few ancestrally Democratic counties in Eastern and Southern Oklahoma had more Dem primary voters in March than Biden voters in November, and Biden won every Oklahoma county in the primary, so probably some there.

I personally know 2 Biden-Trump voters (one in Illinois and one in Virginia) who voted for Biden in the primary simply because they didn't like Bernie. The one in Virginia has told me he regrets voting for Biden now that he defeated Trump.

A cop or a law and order voter that normally would have voted Democrat but was so mad about abolish police that they decided to flip. Alternatively someone who went down the Q-anon rabbithole between March and November.

I did this. I always try to vote in the more competitive presidential primary for my preferred candidate, and Biden was the least bad Democrat of the bunch (but still holds positions which mean I couldn't support him in the general). I actually cast my ballot for Biden in California before Buttigieg dropped out and the field consolidated.
