Examples:
*Lynch mob attitude toward accused "rapists", and a belief that anyone who is rightly or wrongly convicted of rape can never be forgiven or rehabilitated and you are misogynist if you say otherwise. Even though anti-rape hysteria was used to justify numerous lynchings, the Scottsboro Boys, Willie Horton, the Central Park Five, etc. this mentality is still popular with the woke crowd.
*Criminalization of "revenge pornography", which interestingly both SWERFs and pro-porn feminists seem to support
*Harsher penalties for illegal possession and sale of firearms, which are demanded by many gun control advocates and would almost surely be enforced mainly against poor minorities, just like the War on Drugs. But gun control is "progressive" so it's OK.
*Gun control in general could be included here, specifically the kind that says only the cops should own guns
*Hate crime and hate speech statutes, criminalization of Holocaust denial, and banning of neo-Nazi, fascist, or otherwise hate-promoting organizations (which is sometimes expanded to include some leftists such as TERFs, pro-Palestinian groups accused of "anti-semitism", etc.)
*Cancel culture lynch mobs going after some random teenager who made a racist comment and deliberately trying to ruin their life. Not exactly a "tough on crime" policy but motivated by the same kind of vicious, punitive, anti-rehabilitation mentality which is ironically what the BLM movement is supposed to be fighting against.

...Wait, are you suggesting that it should be legal for some reason? Huh

Mixed on some policies more than others, like having “zero tolerance” for certain crimes. It’s all based on what nuances are in the law and what it is for.

In no way will I seriously put effort in such an obvious shock thread on the first go.

I think it is fair to characterize my own views as "soft on crime, but anti-woke", so...

Absolutely yes, justified

*Harsher penalties for illegal possession and sale of firearms, which are demanded by many gun control advocates and would almost surely be enforced mainly against poor minorities, just like the War on Drugs. Some of the ideas OP mentions are good, others are very bad. The overall mentality is probably bad.

Massive Freedom.

I'm extremely woke, and know what's up.   But also tough on crime, especially if it is violent and recurring.   Bill Clinton had it right.

LOL at Democrats thinking that ex-felons (or criminals in general) are potential liberal/progressive votes and trying to restore their voting rights.    Even the brown/black ones are probably the biggest Trump supporters amongst the minority community and more than likely harbor authoritarian streaks if given the opportunity to exercise their collective political muscle.   The white ones no doubt are rightists.  I know this personally, because of family members.

I'm still down with restoring voting rights even if they're voting against me.  It's the right thing to do.

Yup.  I was specifically referring to those subset of "Machiavellian" Dems who only want their voting rights restored based solely on political expediency, and not based on ethics/morality.    If they exist.

It was a bit of straw man.

Those people suck if they exist. But don't let that strawman color your perceptions of felons trying to reintegrate into society. Whether they are left-wing or right-wing is irrelevant.

Gun control is not "tough on crime but woke" and it has nothing to do with the War on Drugs lmao

My opinion on the various things mentioned in the OP varies from positive to mixed to very negative. The overall mentality is bad.

It's interesting that Florida swung toward Trump two years after passing the amendment to restore ex-felon voting rights. Not saying that there is a cause and effect, especially since ex-felons have very low turnout even where they are eligible, but everybody was predicting it was going to turn Florida into a blue state.

This doesn't just apply to ex-felons - Democrats generally think that the more people voting, the better for Democrats, since non-voters are disproportionately young and non-white. What a lot of people don't realize is that young and non-white people who don't vote are far less attached to the Democratic Party than those who do and would be more likely to vote for Trump than those who do, if they voted. If the vast majority of eligible voters voted it may help Democrats a bit but it would also lessen the racial and generational polarization of politics. In fact we already saw this in 2020 where former non-voters were largely responsible for swinging the Rio Grande Valley dramatically toward Trump.

The amendment ended up actually enfranchising very few people, a bunch of other legal barriers were put into place that ensured a lot of felons remained unable to vote. A lot of people I know were genuinely excited that they were going to be able to vote for the first time in their lives, but they didn't know about the fine print under the fine print.

Which kind of legal barriers?

Which kind of legal barriers?
Can't remember them all off the top of my head but one of them was having to go to a court house in order to declare one's intention to register to vote as well as pay some fee that was around $200 IIRC. That was all before they actually went through the process of registering to vote.

There were others but I'd have to ask some of my buddies who attempted the process about the specifics.
