I think he runs in '76 and takes a slice of the Southern support Jimmy Carter got OTL. Beyond that, i do not know.

If he ran, He might've forced the election into the House but Carter still wins in the House.

I doubt he would have run 3rd party again. He would have lost the Dem nomination like IRL, resulting in no change from the actual result.
