A bit surprising in light of the polling. I thought that Roger Marshall was only going to win by 5% and also believed that Barbara Bollier’s status as a doctor would have resonated with voters during this pandemic.

I did not know that. I guess their medical backgrounds kind of cancelled each other out during the campaign then.

KS was always over hyped on this forum.

Roberts' residence in Kansas was an abandoned Lay-Z-Boy store and he was facing an independent. Marshall had no controversies attached to him and was facing a Democrat. Kansas has not elected a Democrat to the senate since 1932. I was not expecting Bollier to come even close.

Not too surprising. IIRC Orman was actually thought to have a chance on election day in 2014.

Pleasantly surprised. Congrats to everyone who called Bollier not having much of a chance and being in an even worse position than Greenfield. KS was arguably the state where I was wrong the most (I did have Marshall winning, but thought it would be very close). Glad that the Strong Candidate Roger Marshall meme turned out to be accurate, although it underscores just how awful an incumbent Pat Roberts was.

Bollier's last debate was horrible. She seemed nervous and couldn't rememeber her lines.

Bollier's last debate was horrible. She seemed nervous and couldn't remember her lines.

Bollier made a series of missteps which undoubtedly bolstered Marshall's margin of victory against her. She made an infamous gaffe regarding the Patriot Act, which cast her as unprepared for the office that she was seeking. But nevertheless, Kansas was fool's gold for the Democrats, and the state's nearly nine-decade long losing streak for that Party continues unabated. There was virtually no ticket-splitting here whatsoever, and Bollier ran roughly on par with Biden-although Marshall did run behind Trump, shedding votes to the Libertarian candidate Jason Buckley.

Unsurprising. Roberts is weak, but more importantly, 2014 was peak Brownback. Paul Davis, Democrat, almost defeated an incumbent R governor in a solidly R state during an R wave.
