Some sort of "socially liberal, fiscally conservative" white Democrat in the deep south? They have always voted Democrat for everything since the New Deal, but maybe they have a successful business that both benefitted from de-segregation and is also subject to high taxes for whatever reason? IDK, this does seem like it'd be pretty rare.

A Republican who voted for Kennedy because of his media prowess and the Bruce Alger incident? This is a pretty strange concept.

An anti-communist hardliner/proto-neocon that liked Kennedy's attacks on the "missile gap" with the Soviet Union but turned hard against him over the Bay of Pigs and extended the blame to Johnson.

This.
Probably also a McCarthy fanatic, who actually appreciated Kennedy's connection with him.

Probably quite a few Cuban-Americans as well. EDIT: Well I guess Cuban-Americans were mostly Catholic pre-Castro so probably not "quite a few."

For that matter, I think Cuban Americans are mostly Catholic to this day too?

Yeah, but my thought was that the ones who have come in recent decades are less likely to be after a generation of having lived under communism. Same way post-Soviet immigrants are probably less likely to be Russian Orthodox or Jewish then maybe they would have in the early twentieth century.

Well, my grandfather actually.

This describes him pretty well:
An anti-communist hardliner/proto-neocon that liked Kennedy's attacks on the "missile gap" with the Soviet Union but turned hard against him over the Bay of Pigs and extended the blame to Johnson.

He also just generally moved to the right over those four years, especially after his service in the Navy. We should never discount the fact that people can change ideologically, especially when they are young, so I am sure there were others like him who voted for Kennedy largely thanks to his charisma and then who matured politically into their ideas over his term (though I suppose most of those people moved in the other direction).

I would have been a Kennedy 1960 - Blank Vote 1964 (would have voted for an anti-war 3rd party had someone ran on that platform) voter if I was alive back then, and I am not catholic, while I think the 1964 Civil Rights Act was good policy, so I would have almost been there. Only difference as I said is that I would have left a Blank vote in 1964 instead of voting for Goldwater.
